The instrument that sounds like an acoustic guitar or acoustic guitar is actually a traditional Kazakh instrument called a "dombra". We can see him using this instrument in the songs "Dudarai" and "Adai+Daididau" or as part of the Durdaraz arrangement!

Oh yes, you've definitely only just scratched the surface. I can definitely recommend his Kazakh songs like Samaltau, Durdaraz, Qairan Elim and Omir Oter. One thing I would point out (just because I'm picky lol) opera is a genre not just a bunch of high notes. If that were the case we would be classing Mariah Carey as an opera singer. If you want to fully understand what I mean then I would recommend Dimash's duet with the Maestro Placido Domingo The Pearl Fishers Duet which is full on opera. Placido being one of the former Three Tenors with Pavarotti and Jose Carreras is a world renowned operatic tenor and this duet was a joy to hear. It was recorded as part of the Virtuosos competition show where both Dimash and Placido were part of the judging panel for the young classical musicians taking part.
