This performance was not the premiere in Sotchy but a special performance in China where he took part in a series competition for a while and Stranger sang completely differently than in the first performance. More extreme tones were at the start, at the same time it was madness, because he wasn't quite healthy again. He had to have an operation on his nose, which is why he had to abandon this competition as well. At the very end you can tell that he was a bit out of breath, at least that's how it seemed to me at the time. I take that as a sign that he wasn't very healthy that day. All the more crass his performance. He's just exceptional. Dimash is far too modest; he will never write a book like this. He says it's all just a lot of work and 1% talent. He really was born to sing. He doesn't give a damn about his vocal range, which always impresses us so much. He uses it because it's given to him, but he always works hard and never lets up on learning.

I'm glad I read your comment first before watching the video as I really don't like the Shine Super Brothers performance, he was so out of breath he didn't sound like himself at all.
@isabelfortuneteller

@@debbiemorgan859 I was actually all the more impressed with how he handled his limited (for him) breath at that time. However I think that these isolated vocals are from the separate video that was put out. Which imo has a slightly flattering edit compared to how it sounds in the complete episode, especially on the final note. It's still astounding though, and better than all other brothers combined (sorry guys 😉)

@@isabelfortuneteller luckily they were all too ready to admit that he was a vocal god and a genius. I loved all his other performances on the show, even the backing track he did for Van and Bie but I just felt so sorry for him having to struggle in that first performance, it hurt my heart just to see him dripping with sweat after one song.

@@debbiemorgan859 i understand you. I always feel pained when i hear him sing when he is sick. Thats why i have jet not listened to his london concert. I wish he would not sing sick but maybe he cant help it sometimes. All the other superbrother performances i like a lot especially the the way he tried to fit in with the others. 😅

Yes, he wasn't healthy. But he often is not very healthy. He gets sick often enough and sometimes has no choice but to perform at that time. For me it's important to not always expect perfection from him, as he is just human. We should appreciate everything he does instead of putting pressure on him and expect him always to sound his best, especially as his not best still sounds better than the best of others.

Thank you William! This was from the China show 'Shine Super Brothers'. Dimash had to drop out of the show because he was ill with rhinitis. He had to leave to have a procedure done. That is why he does not hold that last note as long as he did in the original 'Stranger' performance. But in this one he did vocals like no one in the world has ever done! I was astonished when I heard that middle section. The original 'Stranger' performance was epic and jaw dropping. This one is almost unbelievable and it is live and in competition. Such an amazing singer. I truly looked forward to your analysis of this one. Thank you. :)

U gave me the perfect explanation to why Dimash sounds so astonnishing .. U said he always has his male and female part pressent in his voice. The dark low tones have a light side and visa versa. That combined with him pouring his hole soul and body into every song makes him perfect. (can hardly wait untill u listen to "El Amor en Ti") Greatings from an old Danish Dear and Angel 🌷🇩🇰❤️

An interesting note: Stranger ~ composed by Igor Krutoy ~ lyrics by Sharon Vaughn. Sharon Vaughn is an American composer/lyricist who is in the Country Music Hall of Fame. One of her more famous songs is "My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys", made famous by Waylon Jennings and again by Willie Nelson.

Hi William, I wanted to pass on a clue I heard from Dimash years ago. He commented that in Kazakhstan they have music schools that teach voice techniques differently. He thanked them and said there are others. My interpretation is they are teaching kids from a very young age. Which explains why he not only kept but expands his high voices. I believe they also teach how to jump from different voices flawlessly. How to jump directly to a specific note. How to volume control at the next level. I would be interested to know what Kazakhstan has learned. I agree that Dimash has amazing talent. But I also believe a lot of his product is a product of technique.
@BangkokVoiceCoach
@BangkokVoiceCoach Жыл бұрын
Kelly, that theory would mean there are many male singers in Kazakhstan who can sing similarly, if not as brilliantly, to Dimash? Do you think that is the case? I thought he had been taught a long-list Bel Canto technique by a Maestro who studied in Italy !!? Of course, that is just my fantasy.

Such a joy, always, to watch your videos :) Did it sound to you like it did to me, William, that Dimash sounded a bit like a theremin in parts of the vocalize in the middle ? 😁 I call this one "the theremin performance" in my head :)) (just as I call Across Endless Dimensions "the one with vocal electric guitar solo" :)) And speaking of the E6 in this one, I have never heard an E6 so thinned out to literally a... string. I imagine metal pulled into string in a factory, as thin as it can go. Or something 😄 I have heard E6 many times from Dimash, but never such a *thin* , slicing one, so controlled and sustained at the same time. It beats his spectacular true whistle notes (disconnected), even the D8, the E6 in this one is pure mastery and a bit of magic, he sounds like a spectre or supernatural creature, not a soprano, to go with the spooky subharmonic Ascolta la Voce 😁 P.S. The last "again" with the F#5 lasted a total of 17 seconds in one breath (14 sec just the F#5), 2 seconds shorter than the original performance of "Stranger", because here he was suffering from rhinitis apparently, went for a bit of a wider vibrato, and ended the note a bit sooner. P.P.S. Loved the name of the autobiography, 'Ascolta la Voce' 😄 Dimash has covered the song "Know" by Igor, the version with lyrics, but also the vocalise version. He took the vocalise version with him to his concerts, 3 minutes of heavenly improvisation in every concert. And every time he prefaces and ends it with the phrase Ascolta la Voce :) Perfect combination :) The idea is taken from Lara Fabian who also had a vocalise version with Ascolta la Voce in it, but of course, Dimash made it SO much his own :) The vocalise is just gorgeous. And it`s literally an invitation, Listen to my Voice :)

People who hear Dimash for the first time, most won’t believe it like they’ll say it’s auto-tuned or maybe he is lip-syncing. Which is not the case. I’ve seen a fancam in one of his concerts where he sang without a mic at the end of the song. Crazy Maks his former tour manager in Russia filmed him in his rehearsals, Dimash singing. That’s really his voice. He posted a few days ago in his social media singing the Brahms Lullaby. That’s totally his bare voice.

Thank you for another fantastic review. I love your colourful comparisons, your humor and the detailed analysis of Dimash's vocals. As a nonprofessional, it is fascinating to me.

Hi William, beautiful, unique video. Great proof of the genius Dimash is. It's him, his voice, his style, his music. I'm absolutely convinced he is from another planet. Dimash means sent by God. Keep well 💕

BRILLIANT!!!👍👍👍👌 So happy you did This!! Yes, it's astonishing when heard a capella!! I am struck by the way his voice literally sounds like instruments...particularly the violin. In one part he Slides Up to the next phrase; I would Swear it was a violin if I didn't know Differently!!👌👌🥰 Thanks for a wonderful reaction on your part!!💐💐💐💐🤗

William, great reaction as usual! You're one of my favourite reactor. I learn so much watching your reactions. Next: you must react to «El Amor En Ti» from his Almaty concert. A masterpiece.

@@BangkokVoiceCoach Dimash will have a concert in Kuala Lumpur, June 24. It's not far from Bangkok! If you can, dont miss it, you will not regret it. :) I travelled from Canada last April to see Dimash in Prague. An unforgettable moment. And I will go to Kuala Lumpur to see him again. Dimash is very addictive!
