Dimash is always fantastic! Olzhas Kurmenbek is an expert Qobyz instrumentalist. It's an ancient Qazaq 2 stringed instrument.

Thanks for your reaction: the instrument is a kobyz, a qazaq folk instrument and the artist is Olzhas Qurmanbek. You can also hear it in the song Qairan Elim (the music video is gorgeous) and in Omir Other (the 2021 Digital concert version is extraordinary). The pianist is Igor Krutoy, a famous russian-ukrainian composer, who wrote masterpieces for a lot of artists and some exclusively for Dimash (impossible for other singers to cover them!), like Olimpico or Ave Maria. Both are extraordinary. For next ones, in addition to the 2 mentioned above, you have the choice among so many different styles: Love is like a dream (a so beautiful love song), Screaming (Idol Hit version), a rock song, When I've got you (the MV is crazy!), Across endless dimensions (a film music), Hello (a stratospheric cover of the Lionel Richie song)... and so many others!

This is another masterpiece written by Igor Krutoy, at the piano, for Dimash's specific skill set. Igor is a famous composer/producer who came out of retirement to work with Dimash. There are many collaborations by them and they are all amazing. Olypico, Love of Tired Swans, Ave Maria, Mademoiselle Hyde, Passione, Your Love, Love is Like a Dream, Ti Amo Cosi, Ulisse and I Miss You. Dimash's catalog is vast and varied. Anything you choose next will be amazing.

Hi Fishtank - "that thing" is a Kobyz. The Kobyz (Template:Lang-kk) or kyl-kobyz is an ancient Kazakh string instrument. It has two strings made of horsehair. The resonating cavity is usually covered with goat leather. Traditionally kobyzes were sacred instruments, owned by shamans and bakses (traditional spiritual medics). According to legends, the kobyz and its music could banish evil spirits, sicknesses and death. (From the Kazach Encyclopedia) Love from Denmark 😘

I would recommend his version of Lionel Richie's Hello that he sang on the I Am The Singer show in China. It is epic!! All of his performances on the competition show were phenomenal. They kept showing the other contestants faces while he was singing and their expressions were priceless. So funny to see. They knew who the winner was. The show is where his international fame started. He sings some incredible songs on the show. Seriously, it wouldn't be a bad idea to start there. You won't be disappointed I promise. "Stranger" was the first of three songs Dimash premiered in August 2021, during his performance at the annual New Wave music competition in Sochi, Russia. He again performed with Igor Krutoy on the piano and introduced Olzhas Qurmanbeck on the kobyz. Igor Krutoy composed the music, American poetess Sharon Vaughn wrote the lyrics, and Dimitris Kontopoulos (Greece) and Yerlan Bekchurin (Kazakhstan) did the arrangement. Igor Krutoy is quoted as saying, "it was Dimash's talent that inspired me to write this song, his immense vocal abilities, and his desire to sing for a large international audience. Frankly, I don't see anyone else who could perform this piece in such a way." In my humble opinion, this is an amazing performance, one of the best to date. Dimash traverses almost 5 octaves (C2-F6) in this performance. That stunning last note is about 19.7 seconds in full mixed voice belt in F#5. Dimash performs an alternate version of "Stranger" on the "Shine! Super Brothers S2" Youku Show that is simply mind-boggling and well worth checking out. This wasn't the first time that Dimash has featured Olzhas Qurmanbeck playing the kobyz. You can also enjoy him in a few of Dimash's other performances, such as Qairan Elim (official music video) and Samaltau (2020 Tokyo Jazz Festival). For those who are unfamiliar with this instrument, the kobyz, played here by Olzhas Qurmanbeck, is a 5,000-year-old, traditional, sacred instrument in Kazakhstan. The kobyz or Kyl kobyz is the most ancient bowed instrument on earth, widespread among the Turks, Kazakhs, Karakalpaks, Bashkirs, and Tatars. It became the basis for most of today's bowed instruments worldwide, including European instruments such as violin, viola, cello, and contrabass. The Kyrgyz variant is called Kyl kayak. The instrument is carved from a single piece of wood (typically apricot), juniper (arsha), maple, pine tree, or birch. The instrument consists of three parts: head (base), middle (base is keude), and lower part (ayak) and usually measures 60-70 cm. The resonant cavity is usually covered with goatskin, reproducing a sound representing the animals of the steppe. It has two strings made from horsetail hair, one to provide melody and the other resonance. Someone explained that one string is made with 75 horse hairs and the other with 60 horse hairs. The strings are not pushed down to a fret but are played with pressure applied by either the fingernail or the pad on the finger, and the tones are varied by the pressure of the bow. The bow is shaped like an archer's bow, and its string, made with 40 horse hairs, is tied to both ends of the bent branch and affixed with strong threads of camel wool.

This us where Dimash shines. I hope he gets back with Igor again for a while. They produce first rate music and performances. He'll see some oats but....but get back soon. Great reaction. The instrument is a Kobyz..His player is top notch. This is one of his and Igors masterpieces. Imo.
