As a side note, at the time of this performance, he was still learning English and sang the song phonetically. These competitors were all professional singers/groups and were required to perform cover songs only. I believe they were given a week between performances to pick the song, learn it, practice, and have it ready for performance. Also, Dimash was a last minute addition as a wildcard singer. Most of the others had never heard of him prior and his participation in this made him famous in China overnight.

Dimash is amazing both inside and out. Very humble, educated, respectful, charitable , sings in 12 languages, plays seven instruments patriotic, loves his family, his music and his fans called dears. He composes, directs, models, dances..... he’s 27, 6’3. He appeared in the Worlds Best comp in America and was down to the last three and then found the other two were children.so withdrew as he doesn’t think adults should compete with children, the prize was $1,000,000. He wasn’t told kids would be there.He has such integrity.

And it is not just his voice - he is an incredibly thoughtful, kind and always respectful young man, dedicated to his art, deeply routed in his family and adorably proud of his homeland and culture. Someone you could be actually proud to be a fan of. By the way your knees will hurt a lot in the future, Dimash dropping to his knees happens quite a lot - he is a very physical singer, throwing his whole body into a performance. His co-competitors actually bought him knee pads as a gift after watching him drop like this a couple of times.

I was born in the UK and was a little kid during Glam Rock. Then I became a fan of Queen and a huge Kenny Everett Video Show fan (Freddie and Kenny were both close friends and both died of AIDS). Both were my icons as a young British girl. I can’t watch either without crying like a baby and refuse to listen to covers of Queen until this cover by Dimash. He is unapologetically brilliant, unabashed and passionate with the technical skills so innate he can sell the song with abandon. Yes, I cry like a baby during this performance. Thanks Dimash. Freddie would love you and probably adopt you if he could. Mad respect.

Dimash was the first foreigner allowed to compete, he was also the youngest competitor at 22, on the Singer competition, ever. He was only supposed to perform for two shows. After the fan reaction, it was decided that Dimash would go on. Dimash figured he would end up in the middle . He was going up against China’s most experienced and professional performers. He won performances 1, 2, and 8. This show went on for 4 months. Placing second I would think would be great to Dimash or anyone else! He was invited back to perform as a guest, the next year. He performed in China for 2 years after that show. 😁

Absolutely loved this reaction! ❤️ I’ve only read a few of the comments below, but I’m sure you’ve been told more than once that this is only the tip of the Dimash iceberg. He is possibly the most amazing singer around. Chris Rupp, formerly of the a capella group Home Free, called him a “generational talent” in one of his reaction videos (the first one, I think). One word of caution: Dimash appeared in 2019 on the American talent show The World’s Best, where he gave three performances before leaving the show because he found out quite by accident that, contrary to what he had been assured, there were children in the competition. (In fact, one was Daneliya Tuleshova (sp?), a Kazakhi girl he actually knew.) In the Kazakh culture, adults simply do not compete against children, so he walked away from a substantial amount of prize money and maintained his integrity. The verbal abuse he endured from one of the American judges when he announced his intention to leave the show generated a storm of outrage from his Dears (fans). Anyway, all this is to suggest that you may not want to react to any of those performances - they’re not nearly as good to watch anyway because of the way they were butchered in the editing process. Wow, I didn’t intend to go into all that detail! Anyway, thank you for this reaction. You may be interested in watching the Forever Queen medley from the 2019 Singer program, performed by Dimash and the Super Vocal boys as a guest performance. It’s pretty fantastic. It’s unfortunately not available on KZbin except as part of reaction videos. I’ll try to find a link for you to the actual performance. Greetings from a Florida Dear. She and Dimash are two of the best on the planet. Dimash didn't know much English at this time and only had 2 wks to learn the song. As a dimash dear of 5 years... I love everything he does. So tasteful and the talent in absolutely out of this world. Best sing in the world!!

Great reaction. You will love him. Every song is a surprise. Try Adagio,from Singer. Just out, Across Endless Dimensions. He sings this for a sound track for a movie but he just did it live and it’s great. Both are good. Love is Like a Dream, Sinful Passion(Moscow concert version). Dimash won three rounds in the Singer competition but Sandy Lam won overall. The other singers were well known singers in China. No one knew who Dimash was. He wasn’t a professional singer either. He was 22. The youngest ever to be on the show. Other ages went up to 60 years old. He was a huge surprise to everyone.

This competition was produced by the Chinese Gov tv station. It is the audience that decides which singers go thru from one week to the next etc. All audience members are highly educated and experienced musically. The participants are all well established proffesional singers. Dimash was the 1st ever and only foreigner ever to be invited to take part. So Dimash was happy to have been there, and the Chinese people loved him soo much they brought him to the attention of the world, thankfully. Cheers

All of a sudden there were sooo many reaction videos here on KZbin and everyone was talking about him and saying "You need to check him out!" and that made me think "No, I don't" (that's also the reason why I still haven't watched Disney's "Frozen" btw lol). The second reason was the fact that I could've sworn I've read somewhere that he's a K-Pop singer and K-Pop isn't my thing at all.

Brian May heard Dimash sing this song and said Freddie would have been proud. Remember, this is the first time Dimash sang a song in English; his two previous songs were in French and Russian, in that order. The little guy in the black T-shirt had to go on after Dimash and said that he was stressed out about singing after Dimash. Dimash came in second place because he was the first foreigner and the youngest singer in the show's history to be invited. It was a singing competition for professional Chinese singers only. So of course he was only going to get second place. However, the show's producers had Dimash stay in China for two years, and built a state-of-the-art studio for him. He did recordings and tours during his stay in China. I guess having to accept being second paid off big time for him, since he really was better than any of the other singers, and they were very good.

He is the best singer in the world. Not only because of the widest range, but the breath - and voice control, the stage presence, he has it all. He can sing like he is whispering and belt it out with a ton of power. In every register. His highest note in a live performance (so far) is in the Gakku performance where he, while singing a song he composed in his teens, hit a D8. Yes, a key above highest piano key. Not only he can sing those crazy high notes, but his low register is so low, and full and gorgeous, too. Trust me: you`ve only scratched the surface with this song. Great reaction and review! There are always surprises when Dimash sings. I see that you have been doing some research about Dimash. If you check out Dimash on Wikipedia there is a section that lists all 14 songs that Dimash sang in The Singer 2017 competition. It not only lists the songs in order, but it also states what placement he won for each song. In all the songs he sang he came in placing 1st, 2nd or 3rd. Except for Episode 5 "Uptown Funk". Sometimes the contestants didn't have a choice what to sing and this song, originally sung by Bruno Mars, was just not the best choice for him. Although the audience loved it and were up clapping and dancing. Dimash did a great job with the song. I loved it. And Dimash had a blast singing and dancing. Unfortunately he only placed 6th. One note: The judges for this competition are 500 members of the audience! The other song was Episode8 "Daybreak". This is a True Story. A cable car accident caused 14 people falling to their death. The parents of a little boy held on long enough for the parents to push him back up into the cable car. The song is sung from the little boy's point of view. For the best version of this song, go to Gloria Wu's Channel. She is amazing and gives us subtitles and backstories of many of Dimash's songs. For this song she included the incident where Dimash lost his voice a few hours before he had to sing. It shows him going to the hospital for treatment and an injection in his neck. Later he bravely sang the song beautifully. Gloria Wu is a great source of information to follow. Dimash only placed 5th. If Dimash had held his positions of 1st, 2nd or 3rd, for these two songs he probably would have won the competition. But in the long run, it turned out to be the catalyst that brought Dimash his fame. China presented Dimash to the world. Aside from The Singer 2017, Dimash sings theme songs for movies, such as "Across Endless Dimensions" for the movie "Creators - The Past". It's a Si-Fi Fantasy film starring William Shatner (Star Trek), Gerard Depardieu (Green Card) and Bruce Payne (Dungeons and Dragons). And the theme song for a Chinese online video game called "Moonlight Blade". The song is called "Ocean Over The Time". There are two versions of this video. The best version is the original animated version. Dimash is spectacular. The other version has real people playing the characters. It looses all the enchantment of this song/video. The first song I heard from Dimash was Adagio. The only reason I listened to it was because Floor Jansen had redone it and everyone was commenting about Dimash doing an incredible job on it. They weren't wrong. I have watched and listened to so many Dimash reactions. He is incredible in every song he does. I don't think anyone can top his singing. He is definitely the Best Singer.
