For such an aggressive guitar player he's a real chill dude
@jbm08662 жыл бұрын
I grew up not far from their Pantego studio/party house and know some people who knew the brothers back in the day. They never really thought of themselves as rockstars, but later in their career they tried to act like it a bit..but in a tongue in cheek kind of way. Both were very chill dudes, even Vinny who sometimes comes across as the combative one..but that was only his beef with Phil.

I met both brothers at different times and they were down to earth. They didn't have that rock star arrogance about them, they were just happy to be doing what they loved for a living and loved talking to the fans esp here in Dallas. You could have a conversation with either one and walk away feeling like you just talked to a long time friend. They were the real deal. While I'm sad they're no longer with us I'm happy they're together again.

Damn! I grew up in the next town from his and kept hearing about the Pantera brothers living nearby me. I regret not making the effort to run into them somewhere. We probably went to a lot of the same places! Would've been really cool to have met him and Vinnie!!!!! RIP Dime!!! You were one of a kind that's for sure!!!!!!
@rocksteady52008 жыл бұрын
I was in Walmart looking around at the fuckin cooking utensils and so I turn around to walk off to another aisle and I see a guy kind of kneeling over looking at some other utensils. I immediately thought it looked like someone we would all recognize, so I did a double take then went up beside him to get a look at his face. Shure enough it was fuckin Vinnie Paul himself. He was cool and let me get a picture with him. This was about a fuckin month ago. I'm fuckin obsessed with Dime, so to see Vinnie Paul just shopping right behind me was just fuckin surreal and awesome!
@primate48 жыл бұрын
+Emmanuel Calderon Cool man!!!!!!! I would love to meet him. Which Walmart were you at? In Arlington or Grand Prairie?
@rocksteady52008 жыл бұрын
+primate4, In Las Vegas, its actually the Walmart I work at. I sometimes walk around on my hr lunch break and that's when I met him. I had never met Dime or Vinnie ever before. I read somewhere that he lived in Vegas but I never thought that I would just see him shopping at the Walmart where I work. It was kind of strange to me that I was probably the only cool person in the entire store to realize that a living legend was just walking around shopping. I was thinking: Man people are so lame nowadays they don't even know Vinnie Paul is walking around just shopping.
@primate48 жыл бұрын
+Emmanuel Calderon Very cool man!!!! You're very lucky! I understand that he does have a house out in Vegas and also in North Arlington, Tx. Not too far from the Cowboys stadium and Rangers stadium. I saw him once at a Dallas Stars game in Dallas, but couldn't get close. I drove my son over to Dime's house the other day and got to take pictures in front of it. I think his girlfriend, Rita lives there. There's a junked out yellow colored firebird in his driveway. I think it's the same one he sold his prized Dean guitar for. Pretty cool. I hope I run into Rita one day. It would be cool if she let us walk around his house one day.

A friend recently recommended that I listen to pantera. Immediately I was hooked by dimes skill with the guitar and the great lyrics. I’m so pissed that I grew up in their era and wasn’t interested in metal I completely missed out. I wish I had seen them live in their prime. Thankfully interviews like this and some of their best live performances are still able to be seen although it’ll never do them justice at least we can have a visual memory of such a good band and one of the best guitarists of all times.
