What's interesting is that Mediatek is really upping their game and catching up and actually on par with the performance level of Snapdragon's flagship SoC. Exynos on the other hand, is left to be desired. Let's see what Samsung will release next once they have finish the RDNA partnership with AMD. Hopefully, we will see it on the phones and a breakthrough finally in the gaming for Samsung.

yeah, i had a european s22 with their exynos 2200 and the performance of that soc is abysmal, can't even handle cod mobile on the lowest settings. even my pixel 6 and 7 pro performed WAY better in terms of gaming. i'm really glad samsung went with the sd 8g2 for the s23, still won't buy a samsung again.

The Mediatek 1200 device (probably the OP Nord 2) already had a benchmark result in the beginning of the video, it was higher than the one we used in the comparison, and it also means it has already started throttling. Next time, please start all the devices from the scratch, clean up all background apps and the cache if possible. I'm not by any mean trying to say the Mediatek 1200 could beat the Snapdragon 870, it just could be more fair. Kudos to OnePlus for the bold move and the optimization on the Nord 2.

It's not always the same. Results vary a lot from phone to phone and many other factors also are there to consider. However, average (see other reviews or try yourself) performance of sd 870 and 865 is better than mediatek especially in stability

They are all customers in an asian buiness. Apple and Qualcomm are both getting their chip made by Taiwanese TSMC.. though Google new Tensor SoC its on the other hand Samsung who are making. Same with Apple products.. again they are a customer at Taiwanese Quanta... but Apple is quite shh about these things.., but its useally Quanta that makes apples productgear, like Mac Tover, Ipad pro, apple watch. Snapdragon 865 is known to be powerful, yet resilient and stable at the same time. AI and ISP aren't lacking as well, as it has the leading capability at it's era. Making it still the best mobile android SoC so far.

@@timytimotius4679 Not just that, the 7nm (N7P) process from TSMC used to manufacture the Snapdragon 865 is much better in terms thermals and yields compared to the 5nm LPE process from Samsung used for the Snapdragon 888. As for the Snapdragon 870 they have just pushed the 865 clock speeds to its max and is not optimal for the kind of thermals achieved on 7nm.

Medaitek are making great chips and the last good chip SD made was the 870. I would prefer the 870 over 1200 due to gaming optimization but if for example medaitek puts money into gaming optimization, would not cost a fortune and sold 2 gens of their most powerful chip for at cost, they could take over the market. The most powerful chip is the dimensity 9000 and medaitek should use the time it will take for SD to move back to TSMC from Samsung and come up with a good chip to make something that will blow SDs 1st and second 8 series chip after it moves back to TSMC with good game optimization and no overheating and throttling problems and they could become king. Both comoanys want to get I to the computer market also. If today I wanted a new phone I would get something like a poco F3 or realme neo GT. More money than the K50 with the dimensity 9000 But the poco F3 is just so cheap for the specs you get its crazy. Plus you can customise it. Samsung made chips are awful

Good thing meditek is making flagship chips as it means more competition. As for me I my old 5 year old phone was getting slow and when I bent it I knew I had to get a new one so I looked around and found an amazing deal for 194 pounds I get a pair of redmi buds 3 Pro a poco F3 (redmi K40) with a 2 year warrantee and 1 time accidental screen replacement 8/256 LDDR5 with an SD870, a very nice Samsung AMOLED screen that's high res, bright and very sensative. Small selfie dot that's 20mp. Decent 48mp cam decent wide 8mo cam and pretty decent 2 or 5mp macro with directional microphone. Double sim. That accepts lots of bands battery could be better as it's only 4520mha but they make aftermarket battery's that are 5800mha The stock rom is actually pretty good once you tweak it. The double sets of sterio loudspeaker are amazing. 33W is on the sweet side as it is fast enough but does not get hot but I wish they used a standardised cable not their own that has a 5th Co tact on the USB A side. But if you use a USc c charger that's 33w and a cable that can handle the power its fine. Can play genshin for hours on ultimate in the high 50fps and it just gets warm. All my life I have always bought phones that are classed as flagship killers so a 8 series SD with a decent amount of ram and rom, good screen can play games well well made, usually the camera is not as good as the flagship. I'm really glad I did not get a Samsung fabbed 888, 888+ or 8 gen 1. My friend had an 8 gen 1 and we played genshin on ultra his phone got so hot, it was draining battery like crazy and the FPS where much lower. He got a refund and got the same phone as me. For some reason xiaomi had deals selling the 8/256 F3 (redmi K40) for 194 pounds with redmi buds 3 Pro (decent buds) Or same phone but with a wireless duel use silent mouse for 184. I ordered one for me my gf and some to sell. I have 1 left not sure if I want to sell or keep it as a spare. As soon as the F4 specs came out xiaomi UK stopped the deal as its pretty much the exact same phone just with a slightly better camera for alot more money. I only buy phones from company's that allow bootloading and custom roms and SD 8 series chips.

@@luked2767 as for my experience snapdragon's longevity is just good while mediatek dimensity (Xiaomi 11T) didnt last long for me, it lagged a lot now compared to my sd870 phone (realme GT Neo 2). I tried sd888 it doesnt heat up that much if you don't go overboard with maxing the settings. My highest temp on my realme gt sd888 is only 41° thats it. It really depends on how the user uses it. But im still i am sticking to snapdragon bc I play emulation games

The Mediatek Dimensity 1200 is unstable and the benchmarks are disappointing. It is easily bested in benchmarks by 4 generations of Qualcomm processors including the powerful 888, 870, 865+ and the 865. You have to go years back to the 855 to find a Qualcomm processor less powerful than the Dimensity 1200. More troubling is the system instability created by Mediatek overclocking the 1200 in an attempt to hide the weakness of their processor. Mediatek processors are fine for budget phones but tech savvy customers demand a powerful Qualcomm processor

Your comment is completely stupid. Mediatek only gives altered synthetics tests as it did with the G90 / G95 and the D1000. This D1200 does not offer DDR5 memory and for example in its total GPU computation gflops it performs well below the Adreno 660. One thing is synthetic data where Mediatek and Kirin are the kings of the adulteration of results and another the real experience. To this add the little official support that Mediatek chips usually have and the zero development that the community gives me. In the end, cheap is expensive.
