I love this, it has an exotic- gypsy- blues - jazz sound mixed together. Soon as I heard this video start off with those blistering blues runs, I said, oh my, here is one of those super good ones, the kind of licks you play when warming up with a new group, and all of a sudden, people freeze in their tracks and quit shuffling around to prepare the stage, just to hear your bad self, and all of a sudden, the ones who invited you to sit in with them start shaking in their boots, thinking, he is going to make the rest of us look like amateurs. SUPER BOSS BLUES LICKS, THANK YOU SO MUCH ROBERT, FOR THIS AND ALSO, ST. JAMES INFIRMARY COVERAGE.

Wow, this was very instructional, thanks! You're an incredibly good guitarist and very versatile (I've seen lots of your other videos). I'm a non-technical/non-theory, mostly self taught, guitarist, but this really helped me with the diminished arpeggio thing. I play and write in several styles of music and can see where this would work in more than one style/genre.

That was a terrific lesson! I keep find myself surrounded by people whose best advice when it comes to diminished chords is always, "just ignore them for now." Meaning: "Just ignore them FOREVER." That's gonna be a no from me, dawg.

I would love to know how to recognize the diminish arpeggio in ascending and descending so far I got the major arpeggio ( the American anthem in ascending ) and if possible somebody can give me a list of songs in ascending and descending . Thanks in advance .

So awesome Robert, such an inspiration. That's why I'm learning guitar. From 4:13 on so beautiful. Thank you. Btw, you can shred when you want to (it is boring once you learn it I know). Keep doing what your doing. Love it

Love this video very much. Question - why move the shape up one half step when playing over the E dominant 7 chord?

Wonderful. Thank you.

I love playing the blues and I used all my time playing lead, not that great , and I would very much like to add color to the 1-4-5- or the 1-6-4-5 progression by using Jazz Harmonies. Now I got the easy part done I talked about it. I would love to use substitutions, alternant, extensions, and flat 5 theories to name a few. I just don't enough to create those chords. I hear them but just haven't found the notes to create them and I am using the Chord dictionary as reference. Do you have video lessons on this subject. I listen to Robben Ford and Don Mock and it is from their music I hear the color. Can you help?

so...over the E7 (maj7) this pattern is basically E Phrygian starting on the B at the 2nd fret A string and up 3rds from there up the neck. In E7, Phrygian the B is the dim. chord.Right?It also plays over the F7 at the 8th fret A string. So...in Emin. the same scale will play over the Amin. and Dmin. Kinda makes your head swim...

Only when you explain what Robert has taught. This lesson as taught by Robert is delivered simply and unencumbered by such detail. Thats why I can now enjoy playing it.

when you say you start on the iii of a minor chord and the bii of the tonic if going from a V7 to minor are these the root notes of the arpeggio and is this like the rule to adhere to?
@Dolphinstreets8 жыл бұрын
The iii of the minor chord is not a root note. It's the Minor 3rd for that chord. Any dim arpeggio can also be moved in Minor 3rds. So for minor chords, you can start the arpeggio on any of these: root, minor 3rd, b5, Major 6th. For the V7 chord, you don't start the arpeggio on the iii, you start it on one of the following: the b7, b9, Major 3rd, 5th.
