This is an extremely sad story and makes me, a Chinese person, ashamed of my coethnics. What the PRC government needs to do (and it can collaborate with the ROC government in Taiwan to improve relations) is to redo the Chinese herbal manual. Li Shizhen compiled the Bencao Gangmu in the MIng Dynasty and rectified many obsolete and dangerous medical recipes. The Chinese government should do this again, this time taking out endangered animal and plant parts.

This is interesting, According to Mr. Pieris, buyers come from "China and India". Yet nobody bothers to ask why Indians are buying this. I wonder if Ayurveda uses this as an ingredient as well?

It's going to come down to doing what we had to do with the rhinos, put some up in special facilities, I hate saying it because I believe ALL animals should be free but in this case, it's either a specialized place or nothing
