Highlights as Germany's Dimitri Peters wins the Men's Judo -100kg Bronze medal match against Uzbekistan's Ramziddin Sayidov during the London 2012 Olympic Games in the ExCeL Arena.
Judo made its very first appearance at the Olympic Games in 1964 in Tokyo. However, it was not included in the Olympic programme in 1968 in Mexico City, but returned, never to leave again, at the 1972 Games in Munich. As for women's judo, it was added to the Games in 1992 in Barcelona.
Men and women now compete in seven weight categories. There was originally a men's category open to all weights, but this event was withdrawn after the 1984 Games in Los Angeles.

You only get a point (full point = Ippon) when you manage to get the opponent on his back with almost all of the intial forceinput. His enemy was able to avoid both of those neccesarries good enough, which is why they didn't count it I guess. (3rd Kyū) First comes aming for the enemy's back and second rated your ability of utilizing your technique with the mentioned power.
@humann5682
@humann5682 3 жыл бұрын
@@jaketoffen2454 Your opponent has to land on their back straight away. The German guy sort of went down in installments: head, neck, shoulders then back. When you see the German guys sweep you will see the other guy goes down in one smooth motion but lands on his side. That's why it got a higher score: the smooth motion was key.

I am a Judo player. To every one worrying the new rules will make Judo boring because they allow for some more time to work on the ground. Look at the explosion of BJJ competition. They are growing while our sport declines in popularity. There emphasis on ground grappling has certainly not inhibited there popularity. They are allowed to bootscoot ffs.

well there is nothing good about it turning more into bjj, this makes judo more unic, and the fighters more skilled in stand up. If you want bjj go do bjj, although it is good to teach some in judo class
@antonyneal
@antonyneal 9 жыл бұрын
Just because there is more ground grappling does not make it more like BJJ. Judo has had tournaments with a ground grappling emphasis before Helio Gracie even heard of Jiu-Jitsu. I do not want BJJ I want more of a chance to use ground grappling in Judo tournaments. Judoka will not necessarily get worse at stand up just because they have a bit more time on the ground to work.

BBJ is definitely changing judo. I wasn't aware of the rule change but absolutely rare that a player strategy is to win by submission not even in Kozen Judo that emphasizes heavily on ground fighting. THE UZB player was ippon driven whereas THE GER(PETERS) was BBJ submission driven. Change is inevitable and often good but I don't know how much I like that considering how much and what judo already lost through sports and tournament ruling.

Amazing. I know so little about Judo, but it seemed like he wanted to make sure there won't be any dispute about the take down. So beautiful. I am going to sign up at the nearby Judo or Jui Jitsu school now.

You obviously know nothing about judo. Judo is the number one takedown martial art in the world, anyone inexperienced could easily get dunked on their head. In an olympic judo final, both practitioners are trying to stop any throws at all. Think and learn before you type.

Judo is crazy. Your hands are fighting for the edge on top, while your legs are fighting for the edge at the bottom, and as soon as one of them catches it's moment, it could be over for the other guy in an instant.
