In my opinion Thesaloniki is one of the most beautiful city in the world. I visited this beautiful town for the last time ( I've been there ther 20 times and I'll be there as long as I live) this summer. We found a small tavern in the old city kept by a very beautiful woman named Maria, and her husband. We were their clients every evening in that trip. One night, we found the husband singing and i said, making a joke "Kalispera, Mister Mitropanos !", beacause he sang Roza, as I understood.... His wife, Maria, who met us a evening ago, heard me... She made the cross sign and she said ... "Mitropanos in Romania ? You know about Mitropanos?" I felt tears in my eyes and I still feel tears in my eyes when I'm writing this story ... I answered her that we have a comnon history together, a history which is 2000 years old... I told her the I know about Mitropanos, and Terzis, and Kazantzidis ....but i also know about the plain of Marathon and Salamina, and Themistocles, and The Great Eschilos! I told her that we have in Romania cities build by greeks... and she recomanded me to listen to .... Dallaras .... And we recomanded her some songs by The Highwayman. We felt so close to those people from that small tavern. We talked about everything we could talk.... This is the story about us and MARIA FROM THESALONIKI.. And this is why I'll allways say EFHARISTO GREEECE and GREEK PEOPLE! Efaristo, not only for every splendid holiday which I spend on your beautiful land ... but for everything that you gave to the human civilization ... AND THANK YOU, MARIA FROM THESALONIKI, FOR EVERY TASTY MEAL THAT WE HAD IN YOUR TAVERN. went back to the town, Bepoia/ Veria near, Thess., last Xmas, 25 years after I was an EFL teacher there. I stood one night at the now shuttered, locked 'frontisthrio' (Language School), my employers' names still at the entrance button, wondering where the years, that youthful teaching/learning energy, had gone, feeling like a ghost, in but now no longer 'of ' the town. I went back to the town, Bepoia/ Veria near, Thess., last Xmas, 25 years after I was an EFL teacher there. I stood one night at the now shuttered, locked 'frontisthrio' (Language School), my employers' names still at the entrance button, wondering where the years, that youthful teaching/learning energy, had gone, feeling like a ghost, in but now no longer 'of ' the town. I saw only 4 People I knew from that time 25 years ago - most no doubt have sown themselves into the Greek Diaspora again. Great Music!Les mer Vis mindreLes mer

"Στο κρύο" σύμφωνα με τον Φίλιππο Γράψα -στιχουργό του τραγουδιού- και σύμφωνα με τον Μητροπάνο βέβαια,αφού στην ερμηνεία του δεν ακούγεται να υπάρχει "ν" στο άρθρο που προηγείται..Ακόμη δηλαδή και στον Κρείο να αναφερόταν ο στίχος του Γράψα,ο Μητροπάνος σίγουρα λέει "κρύο"...
