Thank you for your nice explanation. I just saw the idea of Douglas Trumbull’s cloud tank from the book”the cloud spotter’s guide”. Really get interest in this idea. And, your video are very useful to see those effect. Really appreciate

the very first image you show after talking about the cloud tank is actually from a cloud tank, but a 1965 light-art piece called OPUS 161 (I think) by Thomas Wilfred.

What was that pigment added in 8:50 ? Light in a bottle?

That was from the "Tree of life". The light is right behind the glass which what gives it this very vibrant look. But if you're looking for the exact type of pigment I'm not sure.

Just throwing things to CGI is partly why films suck today. People really don't have pride in their product and it shows in modern filmmaking. A lot of the cloud effects in those 80s films are living art and far exceed anything CGI can come up with.

Yeah done in CGI now and they do not look organic Because of that fact.
