I saw them in '04 at Ozzfest; it was so similar that I had to research this video and see if it was the show that I was at. I had front row pit tickets. Honestly it wasn't like seeing a band. It was literally like these creatures that stepped through a vortex, like gods from a different dimension. Mustis' keyboard was shrouded in a black curtain, they were all covered in white paint. Vortex is a badass mf when opening his mouth. This is great. You pretend to be a bass player for huge part of the show, then your part comes to sing and you do it in such a classy way. For me his vocals here sound even better than on records. Gread singer.

There was a time when this was the most badass metal band in the land and Shagrath was as fierce frontman you could find. Then they ditched ICS and Mustis (Nick barker too if we’re keeping count) and bought fur coats. Filled all the their parts with horrible orchestras and choirs until it sounded like you were listening to two radio stations at once. A cautionary metal tale to be sure.
@Zastav429 ай бұрын

To be fair, at this time in the US, Dimmu was relatively still "unknown." The internet was still relatively "young" and there wasn't KZbin or the large scale social media platforms we have now to spread all kinds of music around to people's ears. In 2004, Dimmu wasn't a band that received press in the US metal magazines like Revolver, Terrorizer or Metal Edge. Fast forward a few years to 2007 and they had most assuredly "broken through" because they were all over the metal "mainstream" media in the US in 2007 when they released In Sorte Diaboli. There was a real "shift" in 2005 and 2006 in the US towards Black Metal, Death Metal, "Extreme" genres because people (like me) got sick of listening to Billboard free radio playing post-grunge butt rock like Seether, Saliva, Nickelback and Disturbed. As the internet (KZbin) started to open up genres to more US metal fans, the exposure and coverage of Black Metal/Extreme genres started to increase, hence Dimmu's US breakthrough in 2007.
