My friend came up behind me, I am sitting at my computer and asked "What are you watching" I smiled and said "My grandma... she's super cool" He responds "Dude you're not native" I laugh and said "When did that matter? In the end everyone bleeds red.. and therefor, we're all one family. Her lessons bring me joy." He didn't have a response and walked away. Thanks for the lesson grandma! I hope you are doing ok!

Well grandma talked with Chief Hicks when he was Chief of the Eastern Band quite a few years ago now, as he no longer is Chief. Through my insistence, he lowered the blood quantum to 1/16. We spent a lot of time there and love the village where you learn about the culture. I still have the end of the arrow we got there, cool. My husband bought me a $450 hand bag there so gorgeous and surprised me when we ate at grandma's kitchen out past the main street going east from the places where tons of people were shopping crazy. I also loved the river flowing through there and wanted to go swimming there like everyone was. You have a beautiful heritage. So proud of what Chief Hicks did to expend the money to build the high school, and purchasing and building Casinos and Golf courses. Then even more he bought back many of the lands the white folks had taken from the Eastern Band of Cherokees. How blessed are you. Your stipends were good and hope all are spending it right. May God bless you always to retain what you know and yes, learn our ways too as I have learned yours. Hugs always. Navajo Grandma

The Navajo language sounds like the ancient Hebrew in my opinion. With the East being so important it leads me to this same indication that your people may be one of the lost tribes (who were never lost) that moved to the south west and the rainbow being a protection is the promise to protect against a global flood, many things that you mention have similar respect for the the talking God I say the great spirit because that is my own belief is the same. I greatly appreciate all your oral presentation of your traditions. The holy spirit has the reference of the female nature of God so the female reference is a thing many dont know about. I do mean that we are a family from the original tribes that creation gave us life. Yes Grandama your efforts are doing the work that brings life to the traditions and respect The Way to live together that love is the one value of belonging in Unity as a people your beauty is from the heart it goes beyond the superficial view many live at. Its a spiritual understanding love is all that matters if I love others I wont do wrong by them I wont cheat or lie even steal anything not mine because the number 1 value that love represents is this value projected equally among family of creation we are all brothers and sisters, yes we identify individually as tribes or clan across the earth but still the universal law is we are all family therefore connected you only have to believe this value to understand the respect of its truth. All humanity has made mistakes in the past with each other, the interesting thing is we supposedly have gone into the "Age of Aquarius" the concept of having greater understanding a higher awareness of self, that being, the things I mention all come from LOVE. One for self of self respect for the BEING that we are and other as equal, LOVE as self, never do ILL towards another. As I hear the coyote yelping outside it sounds like the native peoples in the dance its sounds so beautiful to me, they are calling out to their family to share the catch to ear this is universal in nature we hear and witness is the truth and how we of humanity are suppose to live, not controlling one another or have war and killing or murders. One LOVE like a native african who tribes mixed with the People of the land of India in Jamaica named Bob Marley taught through song, "One LOVE", was to share among all of creations peoples, some thing to take to another level this also means I forgive others for their wrongs, for the giving is to love them, is my own interpretation of its meaning. Much Love Grandma, I pray blessing now upon the young ones seeking the truths they need to grasp, the love their young lives need to progress maturely among us all, without fear to hold their dreams back from creating the reality they can, reach as high as possible, only to think is possible be their reailty. True as it can be for them. The young need hope and sonething to hold on to this I see is what your giving them. Blessings.. Doug

The Way is what the movement that Jesus started is reqlly called back then, among his tribes. Interestingly its called "The Way", this came from his saying, the way the truth the life, I finish it with, "is to Love". Some how all together, "The Way to live is, the Truth and the Life is to Love".... my spiritual understanding I am sure that interpretation and language has skewed its real exact wording, so I expand it for my own understand to share among people equally to share that Love for each other.

Thank you for your understanding. I am grateful when others wake up to these things. It is my responsibility to bring hope, trust, kindness, love, familial ties with our family and throughout this world and to testify of Christ that He does live and will return and oh what a wonderful day that will be. Like my Nali taught, we had the Christ walk among us, He taught us, Many walked by sight, those and more are our oral traditions he taught always. The story of the crucifixion is one that is so Holy and when my Nali spoke it, I always wept as a child. Humbling.

Grandma you are my dine’ but I am a lost wolf try to find his pack many years ago my grandma explained we are Navajo but we never live on a rez. For fear of being with out freedom my ancestors took on Mexican first names because native Americans were not allowed to work for cash, only Mexicans were allowed to work for money. I know my grandma would not lie to me about us being Navajo. I see it in our facial features I hear in our voices and on our skin. I used to tease my dad about not having hair on his legs and arms and chest, lol😂. Now my son teases me lol😂. So grandma thank you for more knowledge of dine’, 😢😢 but I’m still a lost wolf in search of his pack😢😢😢. I know I am dine’ I feel in my bones grandma. I am just lost. 😢❤

My dearest Steve, the name rings a bell in my life. But you are not a lost wolf, you are in our Navajo Grandma family and welcome home. No matter your past, you are home to learn, watch and understand, practice and be whom you want to be. Talk kind to yourself, its a part of being Dine', it is our Hozho, "peace, beauty, balance and harmony." Ke' being kind to family and with a loving family like here, maybe online but welcome home any way. We love and need you here and the wonder of being here is to learn, hear, practice and remember life isn't always easy, it teaches us and molds us, maybe some think we are without but never, we have a home on the reservation where its dry, hot and rainy and the wind blows dust like crap, but it is home, the four sacred mountains protect us and no matter where we go our hearts always return and pulled back like as if our umbilical cord were buried on the rez and pulls us back. It is refreshing, and fulfilling. I feel such peace when I am home. Nope, you are not lost, its in your mind, do not speak that anymore to yourself, you are home. Home here with Navajo Grandma. Hugs to you always my dear Steve. Navajo Grandma

I'm part navajo & Ojibwa (MN); my mother never told me anything about Navajo clan system. In 1967, I met a Navajo Green Beret in ft Bragg & he asked whats my clan. Told him I don't know what he's talking about; never heard of it. In 1997, I asked my sister why navajo men ask me 4 my clan. She explained the reason - relationship. In white man's way, u don't want to marry ur brother cuz b incest. That took me back 2 fort Bragg w this Navajo soldier & why he was so insistent on knowing my clan. Today, I still don't know my clan cuz I don't speak or understand navajo. My sister told me my clan but can't remember the navajo word. Today, I ask men their clan & I say oh that's my clan too. Good way of staying single. LOL. TY 4 the info; will review it again & again. I married a British-American man (28 yrs). His family came from London area of the UK.

You made me laugh and I totally understand. Especially about the same clan talk LOL! I did that too. Hahaha. Eventually you will and should ask your sister again or siblings, mother or father. Why not. Write it down and keep it. If that is the only thing you did as Dine' it would be respected and honored that you know who you are. Its just that way in life. Happy to have you come here to Navajo Grandma and thank you for the time to relearn or learn. Enjoy. Hugs. Navajo Grandma

Thank you for helping me. I think we are related And if not we are now 😂 lol. I have been trying to find out information on what red running into water meant. I figured it was somewhere that had red mountains or Red hills and when it rained it cause the red Earth to run into water. Is that true? also I heard that the red running into water were considered holy people because of the last world we came From we escaped a big fire and all the other clans thought we were dead and since we survived they considered us holy people.something I read. im here because my wife said learn Navajo stuff and please teach are kids :D

I really don’t have a good answer for you that makes sense even thru mythology. Some do say when Changing Woman placed Taachinii it was near the red rocks thus when it would rain the place of their homeland had red in the running water. There are other explanations too. My NALI didn’t want us to be involved with mythology but reality, truth and the Creator, etc. Navajo Grandma

How are clans defined in man woman relationships, it seems everyone skips over this or it’s never mentioned.
@NavajoGrandma2 жыл бұрын
Well thank you for watching my video. I believe the only situation here is that you can't marry another person from the same clan. At least no medicine man will marry you. So if that is the case and it is happening more and more that the couple goes and marries in a church outside the reservation then returns married. I don't understand exactly what you mean. I guess the other way is that this Dine' Ina is about the maternal societal part of clanship. It is not a paternal society like the white folks. It started as such and somewhere between 1929 it all changed where the woman was not considered a voice any more. Not as it use to be. So maybe explain what it is that you would like to know. I could only think of these two that have been addressed by many and in my videos. Let me know. Thank you for this comment. Looking forward to hearing from you. Hugs. Navajo Grandma
@NavajoGrandma2 жыл бұрын
I don't know exactly what happened but I did address your comment and question. 1. This Dine' people are all based on a maternal society not paternal like the white folks. 2. You can't marry your own clan. Nowadays many are not following these Natural Laws that guide our people so if the two fall in love they leave the reservation and get married in a church then return married. I have addressed this in my videos and others in other channels have also addressed this. If this is not what you mean then please tell me a little more indepth and I can answer you. Hugs. Navajo Grandma

I was reading comments from another video and the young people were asking if their first two clans aren’t the same can they marry, or if their maternal and paternal clans match should they be together but their first clans aren’t should they be together?
@NavajoGrandma2 жыл бұрын
@@rockogawky5982 Rocko, the first two clans would be the mother and father's clan. If the person is from his/her Mother's clan and it is different from the one who is wanting to marry that person. Then it is fine. More so, if the father's clan whom the person is born for is from a different clan again that is fine. They can marry. If the parents of the mother and father are the same, that is not the determining factor. "it is only whom you are (your mother's clan) and whom you are born for). Do not conflict the simple understanding. Keep it simple. Your first two clans (mother/father's clans) are what matter. Simple dimple. Amen . Navajo Grandma

This is what many white folks say, you made me laugh. I can only say, what nationality is your mother, ask her what her clan is if she is Native American. Same with your father. Haha Kevin you said it right, but that is what you learn as a genealogy researcher. That is what grandma does with Gpa. Slowly rebuilding our genealogy company back up after this awful political pandemic and one that is still ongoing. You bet so much of history has been lost & destroyed in modern society today as CRT is being passed onto our youth as if it is correct and worthy, NOT and a lot more. When one wakes up to society and government administrations with political agendas, you realize what is allowed to be indoctrinated into our schools, colleges, universities, work, home and thru technology, calling evil good and good evil. Really messed up. But when I teach my Dine' history you can't change it, it is truly the oral history that was taught and many generations know this and understand and honor what was passed down.
