Din Tai Fung SM Mall of Asia Now Open Manila Philippines | World Famous Xiao Long Bao Soupy Dumpling. Din Tai Fung opened their first branch in the Philippines on December 8, 2015 at the SM Megamall Mega Fashion Hall. Today we check out their newest 5th branch at the SM Mall of Asia.
Din Tai Fung was founded in Taiwan by Bingyi Yang in 1958, as a shop selling cooking oil. During the 1980’s tinned cooking oil became prevalent and sales declined so Mr. Yang and his wife had to find another source of revenue and they started making and selling xiao long bao, or steamed soup-filled dumplings in half of their retail space. Over time their paper thin skin with 18 folds xiao long bao became so popular that they quit the cooking oil business and transitioned into a full-service restaurant. Din Tai Fung was put on the global culinary map when in 1993 The New York Times named Din Tai Fung as one of the top 10 restaurants in the world. A Michelin star has been awarded to Din Tai Fung’s Hong Kong branch for five consecutive years since 2010. Today, Din Tai Fung is known for serving the most widely recognized xiao long bao in the world, with more than
124 branches in 14 countries including Australia, China, Dubai, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, United States and the Philippines.
The Philippine franchise was secured by the Moment Group, founded by Eliza Antonino, Abba Nappa and Jon Syjuco who are behind the successful 8 Cuts Burger Blends, Manam Comfort Filipino, Ooma, Phat Pho Manila, Linguini Fini Manila, Mecha Uma and Bank Bar. Highly recommended are the pork xiao long bao, pork with roasted garlic xiao long bao, crab roe xiao long bao, truffle xiao long bao, salted egg yolk prawns, shrimp fried rice, stir fried watercress, Chocolate Lava Xiao Long Bao and the Golden Lava Salted Egg Yolk Buns which are exclusively offered only at the Philippine branch which makes it worthy of visiting even though you may have visited other branches around the world.

Your daughter was right. The xiao long bao is pretty much average. Eng bee tin's xiao long bao is better, for me. But their beef strip is like 20/10.

Kakauwi lang galing d2, and yes napakamahal, then parang minamadali pa Ng mga waiter Ang kumakain' imbis na mag enjoy ka sa meal mo, kagad kagad inaalis na Ang Plato, paulit ulit ka tatanungin if tapos nba' then sa paghingi Ng additional spoon at baso, antagal pa at need pa ulit ulitin sa Dami Ng staff.
