One of my all-time favorites, Cynthia! Nothing could be finer than Dinah. Esther Phillips' cover can't touch Dinah's Grammy-winning recording from 1959. The song was originally a Spanish number titled "Cuando vuelva a tu lado" ("When I Return to Your Side"), written by Maria Grever and first released in 1934. The English translation was done by Stanley Adams in the same year and recorded several times before it crossed paths with Dinah more than two decades later. Thanks Cynthia and Harri.

I sing this at karaoke, and I love seeing the reactions of recognition by even young ones in the crowd! Some come over to me afterwards to tell me how they enjoyed hearing it and my singing. It's still a real favorite of mine and others, too.

Beautiful request Cynthia and enjoyed your reaction Harri! I love Dinah Washington's voice. My parents had her albums along with the many others from back then and that's how I got an appreciation and love for this music. Another song I remember being played was This Bitter Earth which I'd love to see you react to. Thanks for the memories!❤

This was special. Haven’t heard this in years but it sounds better than ever. Dinah Washington was a great singer and was called “Queen of the Blues”. There was often a comparison between Dinah and Sarah Vaughan. Sadly, Dinah died very young at age 39. Thanks much Cynthia and Harri for the great reaction to Dinah Washington. 👏👏👏🥰

Dinah was a friend of my dad's. One of his fav memories is how she held and cuddled me for an evening, just a few days after I was born. She died a month later

Dinah had a way with a song that was hers alone, in the best sense possible. Musically, she knew exactly who she was and what she was doing. Her confidence in her talent and skill is contagious; you know you are in the hands of a master and can wholly savor every note.

This song was her breakthrough from being considered a jazz/RB artist to a wider audience climbing to #8 on the Billboard charts in 1959 and won a Grammy. I've heard several different versions as well but this has remained my favorite. I'd recommend her rendition of "This Bitter Earth" as the next piece of music to check out by her. By the way her first name is pronounced Die-na not De-na.

Dinah Washington was an American singer & pianist from the 40's-60's. She covered many genres including jazz, blues, R&B, & traditional pop music. She had a lot of great songs such as "Ain't Misbehavin'", "Am I Asking Too Much", "Baby Get Lost", "I Wanna Be Loved", "Cold, Cold Heart", "Unforgettable" etc. She also did 2 great duets in 1960 with Brook Benton, "Baby (You've Got What It Takes)"& "A Rockin' Good Way (To Mess Around & Fall in Love)".

Dr Pillai after installing Goddess Rakakshi in hisSwami Ramslingam temple. Is bringing the deity to Washington DC. This goddess represents dharma or Santana Dharma which is always the right arm of Hinduism. But it is a teaching that applies to all religions Washington DC is considered the capital of the world and he is going to establish his rulership from there through the help.of Gods for the New Age.
