Interesting. I knew that the team had roots in Soviet Union, but never all the complexities about it. Started watching their games when the team was founded (2008). Didn't think much of the name really, but looking back at it, it is a bit weird having 3 teams with the same name in the league, and the fact they would go back to their old name. Going forward, I wouldn't mind if they joined some other European league. I'd rather they play at a lower level league than to just disappear. Latvia still needs their own professional clubs in order to stay relevant in hockey.

Agreed. They've produced some great players in Latvia, and a lot of people underestimate just how much hockey wouldn't be the same without them.

Bruh they're folding, this shooting yourself to "own" Russia is pathetic

You have a source for that? Everything I've seen indicates the team remains active.

@@dragonfireideas have they listed any leagues they're joining? There's no way the whole operation could stay afloat just in Latvia unless they downsize, also aren't they owned by ethnic Russians?

@@redbullsauberpetronas dude. It's not even June yet. They have plenty of time to find a league to play in. You said "they're folding." You can either confirm that as fact or you can't.
