I totally agree with a lot of this. I've always got personal projects on the go because I love to learn and get better and what I do, and about 8 years ago I wanted to learn how to make games so I started watching KZbin videos and made a person survival game within a few months. I then iterated on that and made a few more games, and then started on a social VR application. About a year after working on the social VR app I then applied for a job at the biggest social VR company without really thinking I stood a chance (I have terrible imposter syndrome despite knowing I can do whatever I set my mind to) and I'm happy to say I now work there and I'm getting paid to do what I did as a hobby! Best advice - If you have free time, put it into building something you're passionate about and get a version on the appstores. Buy some good coffee and make a whole ritual around sitting down to focus on your project with a decent brew. It's actually surprisingly relaxing to put all your focus on one thing for a few hours a week.

Hey Tanuj, knowing how to create website is quite helpful already, since the fundamental programming patterns are similar across languages. Definitely check out A-Frame which is a web framework that enables you to create AR/VR and 360 applications. I haven't tried out A-Frame yet so I can't really say if they are good or not. Another alternative might be 8th wall and I believe there will be more and more web frameworks for XR in the future :)

I should be done with my computer science degree next year and I was thinking of taking circuit streams new unity developer bootcamp. They teach you c# and unity and you also build projects for your resume. They also help with referrals, networking, and with your resume. Do you think with my degree, a portfolio with projects, and that bootcamp, I would realistically be able to land a job as an entry level vr developer?

Im getting into VR development but my prior experience is in 3d animtion and modeling, VFX, motion graphics, After effects, design etc. I had some classes regarding web design but never got around it later that much, so I'm lacking knowledge in programming, you mentioned difference between two engines is in programming language, when you say visual coding do you mean working with nodes? First, thanks for your well formulated comment. Now to your question :) I'd definitely recommend to try out both. Unity and Unreal are really powerful. My preference and thus the reason why I teach it on my channel is Unity but especially for someone like you coming from a 3D animation, modelling, VFX etc. background Unreal could be more ideal. Both have visual programming natively integrated now, so best would be to try them out!

Hey Bjorn, ideally you would upgrade soon but I'd recommend downloading Unity and just try it out. The lidar sensor on the iPad looks quite promising. I haven't tried it out personally yet but I've seen some very cool things already.

Hey Fala, although it’s helpful it’s not required to have skills in art or 3d modelling. It’s still important understand some of the technical aspects, since you will work with 3d content a lot. I‘d recommend to check out Blender which is a very powerful and free 3d modelling tool.

That quite depends on many factores such as your level of experience and the country you're living in. In the US I'd say an average salary for an AR/VR Developer can range from $80k - $100k Here in Germany it's around €50k - €80k
