Wooo ! Part #2 was adrenaline pumping action .. wet windy n squalling ta boot. Enjoyed the huge lizard n mention of dingos .. always the added whistles, chirp n singing of Aussie birds. Didn’t hear any “bell birds”. Maybe 🤔 next time. Great clips of you n one or two other dinghies slicing across each other’s paths.. Music 🎶 was top notch n fit the calms n action Mate. I could write ✍️ more as I do take notes 📝 as the vid moves along. Like 👍 sunrises n sets plus warm n friendly times around the campfire 🔥 as well. Cheers n Fair Winds, Nick. ❤

Woooo ! Those waves n swells are kind of like Puget Sound here near Seattle can be like. Winds n wx funnel in from the Pacific Ocean between our Coastal Olympics Mtns n the high Cascade Mtn range east of us. When I had the Neptune 16’ (1970’s n 80’s) I’d get caught by this SW funnel winds. The waves n swells would get 4 n 5’. That was pretty hairy but never botched or went over. The 300 lb swing kneel keep her up. Great photography Dave. Love 💕 the share of your sailing ⛵️ adventures with the guys. What a cool mix of dingys. Watching from my armchair seat. Papa J

Great production ( again ) Paul. I will keep this in the library so I can rewatch it in years to come, to remind me what a great time we had. I love the bit ( about at the 6:12 mins mark) where the hungry goanna sniffs a pair of shoes, and goes…… nah, that’s yuck. That’s saying something, from a species that is reputed to eat just about anything. Great company and lots of spirited sailing. I forward to the next Raid. (Redbull) Robert

Really love these videos, Paul. Thanks so much for taking the time. Its really tempting me back to the water. I'm about an hour's drive from Windermere in the UK and fancy something easy to maintain like a plastic Drascomb. Quick question: when it gets windy, you stick to the jib and mizzen. Why not a reefed main (without the jib and mizzen)? You mentioned sailing on Frensham Ponds in one of these vidoes: popped my capsize cherry on there in the 1970s. Again, thank you so much. Wonderful to see your adventures on the water.
@SailingKateLouise2 жыл бұрын
Hi Simon thanks so much for watching. I find it's easier to point with a genoa and mizzen and well balanced, but less so with just a reefed main and mizzen and to be honest I have never sailed without the mizzen and just reefed main. I must try it next time. Frensham ponds brings back many childhood memories of my dad getting into dinghy sailing and his first collapsible boat. Thanks for watching, cheers Paul

Very nice! What's the significance of the R signal flag on some of the boats?
@SailingKateLouise2 жыл бұрын
R stands for Raid as it was a Raid Sydney meet. A raid is where a group of small boats, that can be sailed or rowed go on a trip somewhere. Quite big in Europe and the States.

I really enjoy your films thanks so much for your efforts. I was wondering why some of the boats have booms and some do not. Apart from the design, are there advantages or disadvantages to either?🇨🇦
@SailingKateLouise2 жыл бұрын
Hi Oscar, Lug sails like Kate Louise( no boom) were traditionally used as fishing boats as they were easier and quicker to raise the main. But Gaff rigged (booms) replaced them as more efficient and faster. As racing became more of a thing Gaff rigs (square sails) were replaced with Bermudan or fractional rigs which is more common today....faster and point higher. Thanks for watching, cheers Paul
