Okay, explanation on the soup: When the bowl gets emptier, you can tip the bowl slightly to collect all the soup in one place. You tip this away from you, so that there is less chance of spilling on yourself. As such, you will also scoop your spoon away from you.

There’s no logic to that, and has nothing to do with tipping a bowl, like if you thought for some reason that tipping your bowl was bad manners, then the next logical step would be to slurp it with the bowl to your face, not dip your foot into it. Explanations: - smaller utensils are placed outwards of the bigger ones and are used for starters(/appetizers if there's an even smaller spoon/fork) - waiting for everyone to be served is just out of respect, and always let the elderly start first (or the most important person) - always let the elderly sit away from the door to make them feel safer - the spoon facing outwards is just to prevent food from spilling on your clothes - spoons are always placed above the plate, forks on the left, knifes on the right, chopsticks on any side parallel to forks and knifes, public utensils in the public plates/bowls, glasses of wine/water/cups of tea on the top right corner, bottles of wine on the side of the table (with ice if necessary) - snacks before food before fruits and/or dessert

some more tips from a fellow person who learned table etiquette: 1. Once your done eating, place the utensils at five o' clock (\) to signal that your done eating, make sure the tines are facing upward. 2. If you have a backpack or bag or something, place it on the ground. 3. NEVER put your elbows on the table, keep your elbows off the table. 4. If your a male and theres fellow females at your table, you usually pull the chairs out for them and once they sit down, you push the chair in for them 5. You obviously want to wait for a senior person to sit down first before you sit down, and then wait for them to start eating first before you start eating. 6. If someone asks you to pass salt or pepper, just pass them both. Theres a chance that they might use both, so its better to just pass salt and pepper. (IDK ABOUT THIS) 7. If your going to add seasoning to your food, make sure to taste it first before adding seasoning. 8. Instead of biting bread off, you break it with your hands. Make sure to break only 1-2 pieces at a time. 9. dont talk with food in your mouth, chew with your mouth closed. 10. No hats or electronics at the table.

You only wait for the entire table to be served if the food is cold or a royal is at the table

It’s a common practice in most of the restaurants, not even the fancy ones. At least in EU. That’s why they serve all the food at the same time. Most of the people will tell you to start eating if the restaurant doesn’t serve the dishes in time.

Im 14 years old and my gramps often takes me out to dinner. I have learned quite a lot in the past fee years so here are my best tips. 1. If you are in a really fancy place, never serve yourself water or wine, its considered disrespectful towards the waiters. 2. When you are done eating always put knife and fork on the plate. They must be close to eachother, on the right side and with the heads looking towards the center of the plate. The knife must be placed in front of the fork. If you really want to be elegant, you can tilt them upwards if you didnt enjoy the food or downwords if you really liked it. The degree at which you tilt them rapresents your love or hate for the dish you just ate. 3. If you are with a girl, remember these rules: - Always let the lady sit first. - You should be the one offering her to sit, not her deciding to sit. - Always let her take the chair closest to the wall. - If theres wine involved, and you are the man, you should always taste it first. If she is not drinking it, its maybe because you havent sipped it yet. Thats it for now, hopes it helps!

I think the wine thing is very smart, subtle, and considerate, like it's the small gestures that don't really get noticed but will definitely help someone be more at ease.

Sounds like a sad, sad world. So fake, shallow, elitist, everyone needs to play their little part like an actor instead of just being genuine, having fun and enjoying the food. It's a personal choice, but that lifestyle sounds like hell to me.
