Nami could have been an epic skin and keep her fishtail model because she worships the leviathan, which is a whale-like creature of the deep sea. If they wanted her to worship something that would turn her into an octopus-like creature, her voicelines should have been about the Kraken instead, and yeah Illaoi would have also been a much better fit for this position as well, considering how popular she's gotten in the toplane recently.

Honestly if you're already drafting this lore around Syndra and Nami waking mordekaiser together and then Nami going on her own and coming back with her new God to rage war. Do 2 legendaries and fully lean into it, it's worlds after all... Also sirens call and they turn Nilah the only orher water based character into a forest Witch with flower animations if they wanted they could've made them all turn into mermaids on their recall and do it all around the coven of the water witches coming out from the depths to fight on land. Its just so middle of the road in every direction

4:08 Ok but like, i was initially with this mindset too, but as many people pointed out IF THEY HAD TO CHOOSE Nami would be a way better pick for a Legendary coven skin than Syndra, cuz Legendaries are often all about changing a character so that they fit in a skinline where they have potential but things like voice lines hold them back. (this is why Nighbringer Lillia is such a mess btw, amazing concept but hearing "EEP!" when playing that feels so off) Like Syndra fits in the coven skinline with her animations and voice just fine, and Nami has amazing potential to be a coven (because her skin ate so that’s like undeniable slay) but if she didn’t get the Legendary then it would just be Nightbringer Lillia all over again, also for Coven skins it’s just more interesting to take a "fun and nice" character and make then "fun and evil" instead of just taking a villainous character and not changing anything about em because like Legendary Coven Syndra would just have the exact same personality as base Syndra, so t boil it down: If Nami gets the Legendary they can do so much with it, but it Syndra got it then it would just be Syndra 2.0, so yeah it’s unfortunate but between Nami and Syndra it just had to be Nami. (But honestly this is just in a "if you have to choose" scenario, Riot knows damn well we love Coven they should have given both of them Legendaries, or at least waited to release Coven Syndra next year/sometime in the future so that she can be the Legendary skin, i just feel bad for Syndra mains, but ig that Riot not listening to their fans is old news at this point :/)

But choosing who to give a legendary shouldn't be about making a skin work it should be about pushing the theme to the extreme. Morg and Eve were perfect fits because of their base theme, saying that Syndra would be just Syndra 2.0 is like saying that Morg and Eve skins are bad and they're great because they have the theme down and they can explore the universe without having to expend time convincing you they fit. For me the fail with Nami is that they spend too much energy making her "different", the one witch from the sea, the one coming to fight against the other witches and to be fair no one else in this coven fits with her. It overall sucks as a WORLDS event level addition to this universe.

@@argenisg.aguilar3605 "saying that Syndra would be just Syndra 2.0 would be saying that the Morg and Eve skins are bad" I disagree, because while Eve and Morgana had themes that are perfect for Coven (Eve lurring in people and Morgana with her everything) but their voice lines wouldn’t fit, so they gave the Legendary to change the voice lines so that they’d fit the skin perfectly and reach their full potential in the skinline. But with Syndra her voice lines are already fine for Coven, so Coven would either have to change her personality a lot or it would just be Syndra 2.0 (but with goor effects and animations this time lol), but also, except for the voice lines Nami has a LOT of potential for Coven, especially since they wanted to make a "sea & leviathan" story, Nami was the obvious pick. And i really don’t think Coven Nami is bad, i just think most Coven fans didn’t expect such a skin and had a bad reaction to it, but imo Coven Nami is pretty nice, and about her not being "scary and serious enough" although i think she could have been scarier, it was time for a Coven with some goofy lines, like although Coven always eats to this day we only had "serious Coven N1…N2…N3…N4…" and it goes on, so making a Coven that is a bit more goofy is nice imo, again, not what fans were expecting and hoping for so obviously the reaction was not gonna be the best, but still a good skin.

@@ATMEIDAREYAIDOUBLEDAREYA bringing back a skinline is a marketing decision to cater to whoever bought the previous skins of said skinline. Making changes to the core concept is a terrible decision. Also how exactly does Syndra voice work for coven? Because she keeps talking about her endless power? Imagine being the one almighty witch in this universe and having 0 interactions with the other ones, saying she didn't get it because she doesn't need it or wouldn't shine in it is absurd. Battle Queen Kata happened and that skin is amazing while basically being just Kata with better animations and voice lines. Still Nami is not bad it just sucks for trying too hard to be unique and failing at being part of IT (she's the only leg in this skinline that doesn't transform when she backs, her splash art doesn't fit etc) and that's separate from Syndra getting or no her legendary. These skins are bad because theyre trying to cash in on coven fans but they're only coven in name. Technically there's nothing wrong with them, it's just not hitting the mark.

@@argenisg.aguilar3605 I totally agree with this. Cuz changing completely to the thematic of the champion is not the only point of a legendary skin. Sometimes a legendary skin also amplify the champion's personality and evelate their original character & design (especially Coven is meant to magnify and add a lot up to the champion's orginal character). Coven Evelynn, Coven Morgana and Battle Queen Katarina are the perfect examples of skins that can catch up to both of these terms to show that they not also made a boost up to their core personalities but still turned out to be amazing skins. So chosing a champion that didn't fit into the box in the first place and tried too hard to push them to fit into the box instead of chosing a champion that is perfectly fit is a ridiculous idea especially in a skinline like Coven.

GIRL YOU SAID IT- I'm an Akali main and I don't get her purpose in the Coven line. I was legit confused when the skin leaks first popped up and Akali was in a coven skin. I was like "hmm, it's just a leak I shouldn't trust it" boi was I wrong. She could've been like a witch hunter instead I dunno? Also, the prestige doesn't even look remotely even close to Coven. She's looking more like a student at a school with the Broken Covenant weapons. I'm confuzzled beyond the confusion of confusioning.

Bro I give up. Ever since Deep Sea Nami came out, I wanted a proper monster skin for her. Like Deep Sea Nami mixed with that Kog’Maw sea monster skin. That sort of vibe. I even like the river spirit one just cause she has her black eyes, it gives a little bit of monster. But they’ve gone the complete opposite direction with her with every single god damn skin and made her a cutie, pretty human. When I saw the teaser for this one, I was so excited, even if she was still mostly pretty, but at least it had more of an evil vibe. But no. They made her a powerpuff girl with Genshin voice acting. I was actually prepared to buy this skin even though I haven’t been playing since BG3 came out, but the more I saw of it, the more I disliked it. League hasn’t given me any reason to care about it for a couple years now. And just to reiterate, there’s nothing wrong with pretty skins. I’m just so done with the “what if we take female non human champion and make them pretty human”. It’s cool the first, maybe second, time, not so much the 5th. Looking at Nami, Zyra, Shyvana. SMITE does skins better for my tastes. They actually get fun and goofy with them and play with concepts way more.

About Akali: We know she is quite popular and sells skins left and right. But at least they could've gone with a much longer story. How about this? Akali got lost in the woods, yes. The Coven 'recognises' she may have talent for being a part of it. They might've spoke she has a foreshadowed fate or scribed as a 'gift' given by the elder gods as the next coven boss. Not in the sense she'll be the one who inherits the Coven... but as a vessel for the Matriarch of it. Akali just doesn't understands it's a spare body. She might be sh*tty with magic for the same reason. No other explanation as to why they would keep her around. But Nami comes in and Akali is forced to be taken as a new sister.

I truly agree that, even though that I like playing both Nami and Syndra, I firmly believed that Syndra should REALLY get that skin complete with awesome Legendary lines. It's a cool concept, for sure, but I think they really missed their mark since the latter truly deserved that. I mean, what was Riot thinking...? =/ Also, Akali should NOT be part of the Coven skinline - period! That girl's got enough skins already....! :( This is one of these things that I wish Riot would go back and fix it up, 'cause they truly messed up a bit. The voice really doesn’t fit the lines. A better way in my opinion would’ve been to make her sort of like the queen’s handmaiden that is looking to stab Morgana in the back. Make her more scheming and subtle. Not as Dinka put perfectly a Disney princess on a villain arc. Her voice lines should be very subservient but, be tinged with malice. Plenty of double entendres. “Yes my queen, you’ll get exactly what’s coming to you.” You could also have her look down on the other coven members.

The Nami skin is gorgeous, this group of coven skin is amazing but there are some mistakes made in this group coven Syndra is not a legendary that’s a miss opportunity, Akail…… moving on, and Nami voice lines ummmmmm choices no hate to the va. Riot could of done so much more with this group on coven skin one thing they should of done was take Akail and Nami out of this group of skins and replace them with 2 other champs and given Syndra the legend. Than with the next set of coven skin what they could of done I’m going to borrow your idea Dinka and make a coven skin line with Old God Bard, Nami, Sona, Sera and added Illoai amd had it like Illaoi is the head of the coven with Sona,Sera and Nami being her sirens and maybe some how added Pyke skin maybe an old god one so like Illaoi would be the witch with the Leviathan’s blessing and Pyke being the physical embodiment of the god and have the sirens being impowered by the will of the god coming off Illaoi due to her devotion to the god and given her a legendary skin would be the cherry on top
