During my initial chat with my Host Sandip, he indicated that he has developed very unique and intimate relationships with locals. Due to close acquaintances, his life in very smooth in Uzbekistan. He has friendship with Uzbek as well as Jews. I used to hear his stories very exciting. The stories used to indicate me the depth of relationship.
One day I indicated my intention about it. I told Sandip that ‘ we would like to meet his friends and greet them, possibly have dinner with them .’ Sandip liked the idea.
Today Sandip designed the dinner. Very exclusive. Very different. Very thoughtful. He was deliberating on choice - Indian food or some other. When he consulted me - I said ‘ No to Indian Dinner ‘. There is no point in eating compromised Indian food by paying triple cost. Then he said - let’s go for Korean Food. I merrily accepted, supported the idea. We can have vegetarian as well as non-veg spread within Korean cuisine.
We went to hotel. Sandip’s friends joined us - Kamal and Asali. They were very very talkative. We spend 2 hrs. Then we went to Sandip’s Business property. One heritage hotel and other one is Hospital. This local Uzbeks are millionaire. It was fun at Designed Dinner. Interaction with locals renders a different flavor to your backpacking. Your understanding grows. New ideas are evoked. Eg if everything goes well as per schedule, we may travel to Kamal’s Village nearby and spend the time just a day before our departure to India.
