The thing with that is they couldn’t see him in there when they’re cooking or naturally in the living room. I think they might want to keep it in the living room so they can keep an eye on him while relaxing or doing chores in the kitchen.

Formal dining room can be converted to Taika's playroom, where you can store all of his toys into shelves with bins. This way his toys won't be in the way when you have guests over or during family gatherings. Later on when he starts Kindergarden you can put a desk there and start a small library for him to be able to read and do his homework. When he grows up, you can convert the shelves into a reading nook or a trophy display room. :) I think Fawn is destroying the new house because she's bored? Maybe get some interactive toys and puzzles for her to do outside like a bubble machine that blows bacon flavored bubbles. For the screen doors, maybe install a magnetic screen door. I have one installed for my sliding door that opens to the backyard. They tore the screen door when they were puppies and the magnetic screen has helped keep out the bugs and it allows my two dogs to roam free outside w/o me needing to open the door for them. Just a thought. :)

For the sitting room I'd just go with some living chairs by the window but angled so your backs aren't facing the wall. I'd also just put a couch with the back facing the first entrance but then have like a table behind it with some plants beside it so it still seems a bit open. Just some ideas. Can't wait for the finished look of the house!!

I would put French doors on both sides of the openings and make it Taikas play room and easy to control the toys and he can have his own tv in there to watch his own kids movies and as he grows up he can change o a hangout game room . The French doors you can keep it open , for your open feel but also closed to control toys and noise but still see what the kids are doing tru the glass when the doors are closed

For the formal living room, you dont necessarily have to get a sofa or couch. You can just get 2-4 accent chairs and set them up either by the fireplace (facing entry if you just get 2) or have them surround a lil coffee table if you get 4

I just moved to a bigger house in January and girl all I can advice you with is to go from room to room. Don’t overwhelm yourself trying to finish the whole house at the same time. Just start with one room and when it’s done go on to the next room.

@Bart & Geo, for the "Formal dining" room, I think it would be a cool idea to get like a nice big bookshelf/ toy organizer shelf and make it the kids playroom with like a nice reading nook and family pictures all on the walls :) For the fireplace room, you can always make it a cute office place, the table facing the window looking outside with a nice big rug in the middle or something. Would be a nice room for the Christmas tree and other holidays!

The empty space for formal living would be a great kids space for toys now and later for a quiet study space for kids later on. As for the fire place area that would make a great space for 4 nice lounge chairs and a round coffee table. You both are doing great. It takes about 2-3 months to really get everything in its place and feel settled down. Best of luck

Taikas play room!!!! My cousin had the FD as the play room and it is awesome! Keeps the toys from taking over the whole house and gives them a place to play in sight but still having a functional living room :) also not entirely sure but LOVE real estate videos. I believe the 4th rocker switch is for a fan if you decide to put one in so likely its already wired and ready to go. (Chakits vegas real estate vids 👌👌)

Hey Geo, if you wanted a lighter paint to the house, you could've added a dash of white to the cap lid you were dabbing the paint brush in, it would've made the color look lighter, but a bit of white at a time until you are satisfied with the color to match the house.

I recommend the one side being Taika's play, school (when he starts it) area. Then the other side, an entryway locker (I think better known as mudroom entryway) like area to put all your bags (for when you do different activities during the day), shoes (Chinese shoe entry room). A nice way to enclose those areas without shutting it completely off from the rest of the rooms is: glass panelled doors.
