Thoery: The Owl originally possessed the master of this mansion, either through a summoning or a curse. Stella and Josie are the wife and daughter of the original master, and therefore cannot leave the house while the owl entity 'lives.' The owl's song says it all started with a drink of water. That seemed to hit Declan hard. Maybe the entity took over the mansion's master through a potion that looked like water. Being a servant of the house, it could be that Declan blames himself for this curse because he gave the master the water. It's also worth mentioning that the business partner(s) are never offered water by ANYONE.

Stolas, also known as Stolos, Stoppas and Solas, is the 36th demonic spirit of the Ars Goetia and a Great Prince of Hell. He is depicted as either being a crowned owl with long legs, a raven or a man. He commands twenty-six legions of demons (twenty-five according to other authors), and teaches astronomy and the knowledge of poisonous plants, herbs and precious stones and their uses during prophecies. He is often shown changing or manipulating history either for personal benefit or amusement.

@@Lumiblanc I think he's from the Ars Goetia lore of demons.
@jurtheorc81172 жыл бұрын
@@Lumiblanc if you've ever heard of the Ars Goetia, he's from there. It has *loads* of interesting demons going on there, some of which don't even seem that evil all things considered. One of the earliest books on the Goetic demons is the Pseudomonarchia Daemonum by the Dutchman and physician/doctorJohann Weyer (He was one of the few cool Gothic-ish things to originate from the Netherlands, and coincedentally, one of the first to refer to "Witches" as people with mental illnesses, deluded by the devil into believing themselves to be magic users. and thus victims rather than criminals in a way, being opposed to the horrible practices of the Malleus Malleficarum. Doesn't mean he didn't believe in demons, however. Just that the devil wasn't *as* powerful as mankind made him out to be.) The title translates to False Monarchy of Demons, as it is a guide to the hierarchy of Hell and divides the demons into Dukes, Barons, Ministers, Kings, Princes and a single Knight named Furcas. There are around 72 demons, though Weyer only mentioned around 68. Regardless, he gives a lot of description on them from how they look to how to conjure them and call upon their services. Which, in a way, can be done "divinely legally" so to speak. It has to do with the original meaning of the word "Exorcist", which means someone who makes others obey a law or oath. So an exorcist makes a demon obey the Law of God, and apparently this means you don't have to just force demons away. Even still, there's a number of demons for which special care has to be taken. There's one Demon who, if you mess up the ritual, will kill you and everyone you know. He's the most extreme here. Also Aamon has a breath death ray if i recall correctly. On the other hand, there's for example Orobas who is said to "Never lie nor deceive the conjuror, and does not permit the conjuror to be tempted by other spirits". Or Agares who is described as an old man riding a crocodile who takes pleasure in teaching immoral expressions. (In a way, a grandpa who likes to talk sh*bleep*) He can also create earthquakes. I forgot what else he can do though. The Goetia is also described in a grimoire known as the Lesser Key of Solomon, after King Solomon who was said to wield command over demons thanks to, among others, a magical ring. The Ars Goetia in a similar line of scriptures/grimoires as the Ars Paulina, which describes "The spirits of the Sky" though it doesn't exclusively entail air spirits, and Ars Divina, which relates to angels-- though they are much less known. Sorry for the wall of text here if it was too much/too boring, but i hope you found it interesting regardless and may spur further interest. Oh also bonus knowledge regarding King Solomon: According to some stories/mythology/whatever it doth be, he once had ownership over a creature called the Shamir-- essentially a funny little worm creature whose body can erase matter by rubbing against it. According to the stories, the Shamir was created by God so that the temple built in his honor would not be built with tools that could be used to kill people. It was also said to help in sharpening jewels and the like.

I feel you got it a bit wrong. It may indeed be a higher entity at play, but maybe its not just 1 but 2 of them. The creators of the game are the higher power that create the Owl and make sure there is more "gameplay". The second one is the player, manifesting the business partner to interact with the world and solve the problem. This explains why a seemingly endless amount of business partners that are identical twins walk in the mansion and how they slowly know how to beat the entity even though they should have no knowledge of the owl yet. If the player was the entity, we should be able to control the owl, decide if the partner becomes an owl or be asked at the end if we want to reset the outcome. We have no authority over these aspects so we can't be the reason the owl exists. To sum it up: this game may be a chess of 2 interdimensional beings (players and developers) who struggle for opposite reasons.
