Twinkle has something weighing on her mind. In fact, everyone seems to be in a bad mood at the moment, so Philippa attempts to cheer everyone up by breaking the routine. She makes lots of suggestions, most of which are turned down. Her final suggestion is a "Bring your mother to work" day, which the staff are not too impressed with.

You forget that people used to use mild, innocent words like 'juggins' and 'twerp' and 'blessèd'. It's not that I don't ever swear, but now it's ALways ****** or ******, which is a bit of a shame. Am I being prudish or nostalgic or what?

"What " I think...Wood wrote a song about wanking and the first joke in dinnerladies contains the word sperm. Good writers use whatever word is right for the character.

“We never had any of that with dear old Ted Heath” *hushed appeasement from audience* Wow. In the post-Yewtree era that has a lot of significance. Wood clearly had her antennae up on that sort of thing. Although Heath himself hasn’t yet been implicated in anything, you have to wonder about what Wood knew and had experienced as a female celebrity in the 1970/80s.

edward heath, many times over his political career was accused by many people of pedophilia. the smoking gun is the fact that many of these people, over the years and up and down the country, all said he committed molestation (and more i bet) with a prosthetic hand.
