I love how Thagomizer was formally accepted as an anatomical name because of Gary Larson.

I liked the idea of Allosaurus taking a bite out of a sauropod but not killing it. There's a parrot in New Zealand that does the same thing with sheep.

What about the theory that the ( Adult) females were bigger than the males?!? Which was unusual for most Therapods. 🙄 Also wasn’t Sauraphaganax like 4 or 5 tons as some studies suggested?

Dumb Question Time : How do such incredibly large vegetarian dinosaurs manage to consume enough calories from grazing when you consider that the edible food plants available at the time we notoriously non nutritious.... Can anybody throw some light on this issue... Bear in mind how much bigger there were compared to elephants, who by comprisome, are not very large but have access to far more nutritious food choices .... ⁉️🤔 And you rarely see Fat Elephants

Not a dumb question at all! In fact, it's a very valid one. The reason for this overall is 1: just spending ALL the time eating and 2: they had some incredibly efficient ways of consuming a lot of food in short amounts of time. Long necks like that of sauropods can mean you can access higher up vegetation of which there is plenty of since it's an untapped resource or simply sweep your head around larger areas without having to move all that much and incredible chewing systems like that of hadrosaurs or ceratopsians mean that you can not only handle the toughest vegetation which has grown unchecked since nothing else is eating it but also extract as much nutrition as possible without letting much go to waste (i.e. it's chewed better so more can be digested). There are a few other factors but those are the main ones, hope this helps!

To continue with the Komodo analogy, could poison or horridly infective mouth bacteria be an assist in sauropod hunting? Probably, but how could such a thing ever be proven (or even supported)?

The original 2001 study heavily favored mammals, and it established that Allosaurus had a weak biteforce. It didnt. Bates and Falkingham 2012, Rowe and Snively 2022, Sakamoto 2022 studies on bite force - even the lowest estimates put it above the 8k margain with some up to 9.3k N, which puts Allosaurus in mid range of similarly sized animals.
