welp this might be the only "souls-like" game i ever get... at least when it when it comes out eventually. gotta say it looks amazing! but i wonder if they'll make the dinos have a bit more weight/momentum to attacks and movements, since rn they seem kinda snappy for being massive creatures with equally massive swords XD

@@aphy460 It is THE BEST souls like of FromSoftware. In Sekiro, it's finally confrontation head on, not avoiding the battle but facing it. It is also much more difficult, and all the more satisfying when you hear that perfect cling of the blades on a successful parry. Once you understand how combat works and how you are supposed to play, it feels so much better than any other FromSoftware game. The fact that you can't just grind levels if you get stuck makes it even harder, so you have to just get better. My favorite souls like is Sekiro

@@The_WhiteI somewhat disagree because of just how easy it becomes when the combat finally clicks. Fantastic game and easily one of their best games but I would put bloodborne, DS3 and Elden ring above it because of replay value and more consistent challenge. I unfortunately got really good at the combat before fighting Isshin and ended up beating him first try. Ended up with pretty mixed feelings because I fully expected to get my ass handed to me

This is really really well done, my first thought was--"who would want to control a dino" but the movement actually looks really fun, even the slow walk is the right speed, which can't have been easy. Overall it's just insanely polished feeling for a solo dev project. My main critique, which i think is really important for this kind of game, is camera placement and just general view stuff. The dino we're controlling takes up a lot of space on the screen, an absolute ton of horizontal space, esp when turning, compared to a human (a DS character, horizontally takes up like 1/5-1/8 the space). The ridges on its back make it take even more vertical space as well. Because of all this, from the perspective of imagining I'm playing, I notice myself getting a bit annoyed at how often the enemy was partially blocked from view by my character. A similar problem is the direction the player character holds the sword. From the pov of a screenshot, holding the sword inward makes sense because then you can see the whole sword. But from the pov of gameplay, if you swing to the left (and then start the 2nd move of the combo to the left), you are going to instinctively position the enemy to your left, like you're doing in the footage. Because the player character is already drastically offset left, this means the enemy is basically off the screen while fighting, which is really not good for a challenging souls-like which requires the player to watch the enemy carefully. One more thing along those lines--the open grassy part is too small. The map is the right size for humans, but these dinos are wayyy bigger than humans, so it feels a bit claustrophic and restrictive (ik you technically can go into the trees but still). Hopefully this doesn't come across as overly critical--I almost never leave youtube comments, but I'm also interested in solo dev and this project has so much potential, so I just wanted to give my 2 cents as a souls player and a bit of a dev.

My first point about screen space was just trying to say zoom out, definitely zoom backwards and maybe a tiny bit up (but i'm not as sure about that). And the part I'm talking about with sword swinging left starts at 0:24, notice how not optimal being on the left or even centered is, and how you constantly footwork/roll to the right, placing it's sword-mouth off the screen. An alternative to zooming out is shrinking the player, but that probably requires tweaking a lot of other gameplay stuff like attack animations.

I think a combat mechanic related to what side the sword is facing could be interesting. Possible parries or reflections, maybe even unique combos that require swords to be facing a specific way.

Literally been following your page on instagram for a long time and all i have to say is wow. I know its still very early in the development but it literally seems so amazing and im super excited to see this come to life. I was thinking a gew things though so i wanted to voice my thoughts. Here are some thing i personally would like to say, not that i can do any better howeever, or that i have a say in this. But From games like this, a target lock on feature would be very geat to use. It did feel like the other dinosaur was off the screen and it was hard to stay focused on it. The hit sound is good but it can sound a little more fleshy. Also, possible parry or counter option, like a spot dodge or maybe a priveledged "super armor move" can be wonderful especially to inflict a knock back effect or a knockdown. COMBOS 👀👀. juggle a dino in the air with a Devil May Cry air combo. Maybe frisbee a sword and have it come back to you. There is literally an unprecidented amount of potential this game has right now. Big boss battles and destructible environments. Missions or objectives or a really good storyline. Dinosaur options or customizations. Dinosaur outfits or accesories like in tekken.... the potential is endless. Online pvp, zombie dinos 👀, DLC packs for special dinos or weapons

I really can't wait to play this. Some minor feedback; I think it might be cool if the attack animations resembled the ones from those early shorts with all that weight and mass. The way that spinosaur had to really wind up and throw itself around to move its weapon in that first animation with the Spino in the empty background.

Great things that i've seen about this dino combat game concept, very talented to make such a game and the creativeness is out of bounds with this one, i really want to see how this develops in time. (if i get the job im postulating i may even get a chance to support you!) also an idea: a lock up camera for the enemies (like in mgr) and another idea (how it shows you're locked on an enemy in the hud) is using the anger or hostile creature aura from spore, so you know who you are locked on, maybe you have a better idea, but you probably understand what i mean.

What would be cool is if you use the environment to do stuff. Like throwing a sword into tree next to opponent, sprinting and jumping, grabbing onto sword with mouth, swinging and doing a really hard kangaroo like kick. Game looks awesome!!!
