I met you online around 2010. I just saw your videos and laughed myself sick. I believe it was through the comments of one of your videos lol. You probably don't remember, but i used to get distracted and gabble like a whole flock of turkeys lol. I'd hijack commet threads for conversation...(everyone look away from my shame now!!!! Look away!) I think our first messenger conversation was just sharing our poems. You'd listen to me whine about whatever fires i was trying to control/ extinguish/juggle... whatever it was, you were there with a word of kindness or encouraged me to juggle faster. Sometimes you'd need an ear and i had two, so i never minded loaning one or both! So i consider us friends. and as a friend, i can say, I'm so proud of you! You made goals and you met them. And you kept going!! Great job and i _KNOW_ you will keep on rising!🌟 I know I'm nobody important, but i just wanted to tell you 😊😊😊😊😊😊 Hugs!💜🌻🕊🌻 Doni

@ThomasTulak life is about the same, but hey, I'm still on this side of the grass, so I'll take it, lol! You keep up the fantastic work! I fully believe I'll be seeing more of your work all over the place soon. You have to have unique ideas and a twisty sense of humor and a lot of motivation to get by in entertainment. You've already proven you've got those things in spades. I look forward to living vicariously through your internet posts as success and happiness surround you and your family. 😊 Keep in touch, say hi sometime, I'm around somewhere, lol. Take care of yourself, friend... And don't forget to hydrate!! 😁 Stay blessed! 🌻🌻🕊💜🌻🌻

How would you recommend finding a community of filmmakers while living in an area that has no interest in filmmaking, no facebook groups, no “clubs”, nothing. I can’t even get work friends or family to help.

Where do you live that there aren't any filmmakers near you? Perhaps there are and you don't know? Perhaps there are other filmmakers in your area asking the same question. Perhaps you could try starting a filmmaking group, and put flyers in community places in the hopes of maybe finding someone who shares your interests, but doesn't know how to find anyone to work with. If you truly are in a place where there are absolutely no other filmmakers, then perhaps the thing to do is practice on your own to build your skills, and when you are confident in your abilities due to experience, then invest in yourself, take the leap, believe in your dreams, and move to somewhere where you can find people to work with... It won't be an easy decision to move, but if its truly in your blood then you have to stop at nothing to make it happen.

@@ThomasTulak that is what i may end up having to do. I could make a movie here where i am, and try to hunt for and employ people to fill roles for the crew and cast. I could hire the people i met online and fly them over here to help me. Or, i could fly to them and get the movie made over where they are. It's gonna be costly so i may have to expand my budget. In the meanwhile, i could start practicing, like you said. 👍

I want to do what you did and achieved. I've always wanted to make a film, and recently, i've resolved myself to finally accomplishing this dream even if it's late into my life. Right now, I'm trying to raise the money for the budget. I'm a tad bit illiterate as to how and what is needed to make a movie though. Can you kindly tell me what are the most neccessary equipments i should acquire? Like a camera and boom mic for example, of course, but besides those, what else? Can you also reccommend which type or brand of equipment, if you have a preference or you know which is best or at least very good? Thank you very much! This video is inspirational, by the way, i might add. 🙂

Thank you for that! I'm happy to have inspired you! ...If you're set on having your movie be the first thing you make, then it might serve the movie better to use your budget to hire a cinematographer who has the gear, and has a better understanding of how to do everything, who can guide you through it all. However, if you're willing to put in the time, I always think it's better to learn the necessary skills to do it, yourself. In which case I'd recommend getting what ever gear you can get your hands on to start practicing by making some smaller projects like KZbin skits or short films, things like that. Every project you produce you'll learn more and more and get better and better. It doesn't necessarily have to take 10+ years for you like it did for me, but if you start small and work your way up then you'll know when you're ready for the big projects. That said, I could recommend specific brands for things, that will cost various amounts, sure, but more importantly, the best camera to use is what ever you can get your hands on. in 2011 I made a short film for a 48 hour filmmaking competition. I used a $100 Sony "Webbie" handicam, with all auto settings, and nothing else, not even a mic. it was about as entry level camera as you can get... I won 1st place in that competition, and used the prize money to buy my first Canon DSLR camera, that I shot things on every week for a few years till I could buy a nicer camera... by then, after gaining the experience, I had a much better idea of what I needed to get, because I had been doing it and learned first hand. So the best advice I can give is, grab what ever camera you can get your hands on, and just start making things, and you'll figure it out as you go!

@@ThomasTulak thanks! That's a great place to start. 😄 I might even do both. If i can. I guess i'll also search the internet for tutorials on many aspects of filmmaking. Seeing as i may be doing a lot of things for it myself. 😅 I grew up without the internet being a thing, so it sometimes escapes me that i may find answers and help there. 😁 I don't think i can ask people to work for free though. I can work for free but i must get people paid for their efforts. It's like my chivalric code and i always abide. 😂 it's especially going to be tough for me since i am also going to self finance everything. Once again, thanks! and thank you for making this video. It's a kick in the butt to get us aspiring filmmakers to get off our asses and do it!

@@OYABUNxix in regards to it being too late, it’s never too late. Alan Rickman was in his late 40’s when he got his first acting role in Die Hard. There’s no such thing as too late, and late is better than never. You can ask people to work for you for free if in turn you work for them when they have a project. Build a favor based team. That’s what I did. I have a team and we are all there to help each other on each other’s projects. You pay each other in favors instead of money. Just make sure you always feed well anyone who’s on your set! Haha And yes, you can learn anything you need on KZbin. I also grew up before the internet. I started editing by hooking up my dad’s camcorder to a VCR 😂!

@@ThomasTulak oh, there's not gonna be any problem when it comes to food. I cook and i'm told my dishes are quite tasty. 😄 i can also get my mom and or my aunt, or old family friends to cook as well. And, they know how to cook and feed for a town or two. 😂 I didn't mean it's too late for me. I too, live by that belief that it's never too late. It's nice to talk to a fellow cinema lover who appreciates trivia like that also, by the way. I meant, i'm getting old. 😅 I didn't even have a camcorder growing up. Art was not fostered in my family. I pursued it on my own. The first and only camera i ever bought was a disposable one. 😂 i was like 9 years old. By the time i was in college and had enough money, that's when i bought painting materials, canvasses and brushes and paints, to try my hand at oil painting. I need to buy editing and sound mixing equipment too, i reckon. 🤔 I'll try that. An economy of favors among like minded individuals. 🙂 Despite it feeling wrong in my gut and heart not to compensate and reward the hard work of others. 😅 Thanks Tom! It's apt that your name means "Push" in some languages. Because, you were that last push i needed to solidify and reinforce my resolve. 👍
