The first time I went to Dinorwic Quarry I was amazed at how big it was, there is so much to explore and so much to see. Every visit I find new things, all of which are very interesting. The view from the top is amazing too, it really is a big kids playground.
All the good stuff being said, I'm not going to pretend this place isn't a bit sketchy, a little bit scary and quite dangerous, you definitely need to listen to your gut on this one, don't push things too far. The ladders are cool to climb, a great picture but you have to be confident and even then you're not safe. Everything you do here like most places is at your own risk, be careful, respect it and you'll be fine. Do not push your luck.

A very nice place Char and if you were there you can safely see "slate" with different eyes 😊 Such historical buildings are simply beautiful, we humans go through history but such buildings are history. The cave(s) are great, especially when you left the cave there was a lot of fern. The combination of slate and fern is beautiful 😄The ascent was exhausting but the view as you said was very nice and the reward. Thank you for showing us the great place! 🤗

Great vid. BTW if you’re feeling fearful on lone hikes I highly recommend you carry with you one of those butane jet torch lighters. They emit a jet flame for about a foot, and can melt through metal in seconds. Excellent “weapons” for self defence, and entirely legal too. I bought one for all of my sisters, and they always carry them when on lone hikes.

@@barefoot_ventures 😂 it did sound a tad extreme, but since that Scottish KZbinr guy went missing on a hike / camp, I began carrying one to provide me with some self assurance. Oh and they’re great for lighting fires.

The views over the Bay are stunning Char. I loved the sheer faces of the slate quarry when you went through that tunnel. I believe the workers stayed at the quarry during the week and headed home weekends. I wonder how many had to live in each of those cramped terrace houses. I bet it was a cold, hard graft. As for letting people know. Spot on there. Any hike I do I forward a map and route to my better half with a last time past which she calls for help. You know what phone reception is like in some places. But as for the quarry, yep, best in pairs. Thanks for taking us along Char, really enjoyed it.

Do they do mountain/rock climbing up there? it looks very familier to one where I went to watch my daughter and boyfriend climbing with all the ropes. Lots of different tiers and tunnels here and there. it was an amazing place to explore, just cant remember its name. Thanks for sharing
