2:44 to 3:03 has my crown jewel close ups of J's foot workin-the-wah. I was glad to be a part of the filming.

I was at this show...this period of my life was pivitol, and this show was the centerpiece... I broke up with my then girlfriend the day before the show... so I could get with a different girl...who, I'm still with today. Having been to this show and seeing this record of it means a lot to me, because I'm happier now than I have ever been :)

These guys are assholes! There I was living my life thinking Dinosaur Jr was just another band that I heard on the radio back in the 90s. But now I've accidentally rediscovered them and finding that they are an amazing band and that now I have to listen to their entire catalog and let it gently steep into my brain over the next several years. Thanks a lot fellas!

@Pete3D lol, interesting observation. Well I see what you're saying, maybe he wasn't happy with that solo and overdubbed a new one afterwards, I guess since they had the separate tracks it would be possible. So I don't see the hands being that obviously off. it's odd they don't show a closeup though. but that could also be a coincidence imo. They didn't really play any other songs where that delay-y solo sound would be an obvious choice. I mean that was one of the more slow and melodic ones. Also his pedalboard is huge, there's a bunch of different dirt pedals alone, so it doesn't seem impossible that he would use certain sounds only on single songs in a live set. He often has pretty drastic changes in tone. However I agree that it sounds pretty isolated from the previous guitar sound. Watching it again, that slide up probably 2 frets at 2:27 looked off, but then I picked up a guitar and tried to replicate it and I saw how he might have played it that it would have made sense. Watching again at half speed.. agreed that 2:23 does kind of look off, but it's not completely conclusive to me, really hard to tell. I'm not sure , I guess you're more likely right. Overdubbing stuff in official live albums isn't unheard of although you wouldn't expect it here. It's a sick solo either way. Ok, now I'll go do something more productive

It doesn't sound/look overdubbed at all. You can clearly hear only one guitar throughout, just changing in tone with different pedals. There are plenty of close-ups. One if the things that could throw you off is that in certain parts the rhythm comes from the wah wah pedal, not whatever the hands do. The parts sound relatively clean and isolated because this was mixed professionally.

I don't know man, we were only suspecting the solo at 2:09 - 2:35. where the sound seems unique compared to every other solo in the whole set and they only really show lou and murph until the solo is over. sure you only hear one guitar because they would have deleted the original guitar track at that part

I was at this show...and have a very vivid memory of it.. to the best of my memory, this is how it sounded, and knowing Dinosaur Jr, they would not have over-dubbed anything, or re-recorded anything.

The tone changes because he's using guitar pedals...

I love that song & i think he just footswitches to another amp (which is on another PA-channel per DI-Box for more presence+FXstuff).Maybe the reason for sounding so different+Camguy fuckups.

Anyone else think the solo sounds like it's been overdubbed? The tone completely changes (doesn't sound live) and his hand movements don't match the notes.

ehh, camera dude forgot you need to off set the video to match audio track. always hear it before you see it

I'm completely aware how pedals can change a guitar's sound, but what i'm saying is that the solo almost certainly seems to be overdubbed - compare the sound at around 2:23 or so to what his left hand is doing, it doesn't match up. It sounds too... clear? to be live, as well, and just sounds like his studio sound. If it was a pedal, surely any of the many leads in this concert would sound vaguely similar (and they don't - i've watched the DVD enough times). Hmmm! *rubs chin*

J is too lazy to go back and overdub a guitar solo. I hear what yr saying though.
