Amazing, stunning. One of those sublime moments you get every now and then at gigs.

they came to Mtv (london, UK) in early 1993 & I was doing the monitor mix for them. I got a good look at j's set-up, including a purple flightcase that was about four inches deep, six foot by three foot.... inside was a large piece of perspex, the shape of a kidney-bean, with pedals fixed to it by velcro. he also had a red cabinet, like if a filing cabinet was made by snap-on, with drawers that had cables coming out of them. some of the drawers were locked. very secretive. I fixed a hum that had been bothering them all tour, by re-routing some cables around the back of the plexis. then the tech was trying the pedals... "this doesn't sound right", he says, so we put a new battery in this one pedal. "sounds exactly the same...." so we left it. later I saw j switch the pedal on for maybe one bar, pull a face & switch it off. it was an MXR bluebox. 😂 oh, his guitar 'stands' back then were bean bags. three jazzmasters & a purple telecaster, since you ask. this is the set that's recently been released, though I *know* there was no multitrack, only the (normal) betacam broadcast VTR recordings, which are not great quality audio. I have a load of 1/4" from the same day- out-takes & whatnot, because we used to run a separate tape during studio performances so that the band could have a quick listen (we were mixing for tv, & back then this meant a slightly different mix than you would do for a CD, say). if they'd asked, I could've sent them a load of stuff that would be unique. oh well.

@@duncan-rmi I did see dinosaur in early 1993. Birmingham Hummingbird England. Boo Radleys we're supporting. Lou Barlow was nowhere to be seen which was a shame.. huge part of dinos sound for sure. Mike Johnson was on Bass. It was a great night. I remember it was so loud that J was sick into a bin onstage during Raisans!!🤮 Great gig. So much fun that night!

I've seen Dinosaur in almost all their incarnations over the years and I can say unequivocally, that the original lineup is the best. I mean, Mike Johnson is a great musician and George Berz is a fantastic drummer, but Lou's bass playing is totally unique and Murph is a monster on the kit.

Love this track. Great for being with a person or without. Cool that they had guests to sing, and maybe I'm not in the know, but who's Jeremy from Arkansas? Was this some weird 'make a wish' thing? It just would have been kinda a bummer to hear that the next show was Kim Deal or Rollins. : )

I still prefer the studio version, honestly. If they got Jacob Bannon on vocals here (and they were actually loud enough), i'd be of a different opinion. But this dudes performance is as weak as the volume of the mic. They weren't lying when they said "some guy".
