I worked at the Gallery in 1978 and was friends with Arthur, I have this Red Vinyl tattoo on my arm. Great Memories. But Steve Rogers I prefer the A side

I was with Arthur on, 12th Street when he was cutting 1/4 inch loops with a razor blade (I think for the first 24/24 music.) If anyone even knew all the places this track had been before it got to the dance floor. The dumbek, (middle eastern drum) tracks played by Vince Delgado were added on free studio time, (I think it may have been poached from Terry Riley and La Monte Young) at Mills College in Oakland. Wnen Arthur would come to San Francisco we would go to The Stud and other dance clubs and, ever humble but obsessed, Arthur would walk it up to the D.J. and then beam when the dance floor went completely crazy. I am really overjoyed to see all this appreciation and recognition for Arthur's genius. this is one of my college films to 24/24 Music. (others to Reach, and Golden Windows, Tower of Meaning) kzbin.info/www/bejne/b5nYd5SBm6p-fpI House music was just one single facet. Pop songs, avant garde classical progressive rock with the Necessaries, all cutting edge superlative.

I remember that night very well, it was the summer of 1978 when this record came out, and he played it, and played it. I guess that is why I love it still today. KUDOS Nikki.

Giovanni Ferrini Side A is mixed by Jimmy Simpson and this side is "remixed" by Dinosaur (Arthur Russell & Nicky Siano). So Side A is technically the original mix, while this side is the remix (Version) even though this side is mixed by Dinosaur who produced the track originally

I always lost my mind to this version, on Nicky Siano's dancefloor!

i haven't heard the whole side yet, but this sounds like the version david usually played at the loft. i fucking LOVE this song, i used to loose myself on the dancefloor to this. Edit: nope, i think it was side A that david used to play, my bad.

Co-produced by a DJ,. anyway, seeing as how it's credited to both Nicky Siano (the DJ) and Arthur Russell.

There is a s literally a 16th note tape gap before the last bridge. If your in The mix you have to Catch it and bump forward or drop to the next 1/4 off phrase

A beautiful mess. I like the human errors. Quantization has sucked a lot of the soul from dance music.

@@KurtisHord That's a bit of an Arthur Russell thing tho, isn't it? I wasted hours trying to sync up "This Is How We Walk On The Moon" before i realised he very deliberately was knocking off 1/4., 1/3 wherever it made sense to him.
