Binged the whole series recently & this really make you appreciate what a technical achievement this show was. Each of the full sized dinosaurs is played by 3 people ; a voice actor, a suit actor & a puppeteer remote controlling the head, & all 3 of them have to be totally in sync to create a believable character
@jonplaud2 жыл бұрын
Anything Jim Henson related I always watched. I learned about how in sync they had to be when I saw the making of Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back when they had to make Yoda look believable.
@ZakWolf Жыл бұрын
Indeed. I heard that Earl Sinclair's voice actor, Stuart Pankin, even got to try the mask on once during production of the series.

Apparently it was very expensive to produce which is one of the major reasons for why it got canceled. It’s also crazy how basically a two person team were controlling the suit. The person in the suit itself and the person controlling the animatronics in the head.

Still holds up after so long, currently binging the series in 2023 and not only is the technical quality and production so on point but the humor is timeless.

I feel this show was underappreciated back then, at least form a tech and special effects standpoint. The coordination between the actors and the puppeteers that controlled the faces must have been astounding not to mention the actors be in good shape to actually do their jobs in those heavy suits.

I was so sure that Pokemon were real somewhere in another country and at the age of 10, I packed some crap into my schoolbag and ran away from home into the woods to go be a Pokemon master. When I turned 11 checked everyday to see if I got a letter from Hogwarts. Anytime I found a nice stick I would carve it into a wand and try to cast spells. So yeah, you were no weirder than me.

Ok, let's put this in perspective.... They were able to make extremely detailed suits with fully animatronic faces suits with that high a quality on a TV show budget back in the early 90's.... yet in today's damn near half a billion dollar movies all the can give us is bad PS 3 quality boneless, unnaturally animated, plastic cartoons? What the hell is wrong with this world? Note: I'm not saying the PS 3 was bad, it's just bad that high end movies don't look any better then real time graphics that can be put out on a last gen game system)

So much work for the show. So much better then these days. When it took real talent and real actors not cgi fake actors who look good with scenes spliced together

@@einundsiebenziger5488 anything these days. Everything is race, sex, or sexuality based. My daughters do not need to see Super Girl have a lesbian experience. Or Batwoman being black with a racial chip on her soldier, gay, and her pronouns are she/her/ hers/ agydhjjeidlah. That means Woke in english

wish theyd randomly bring something like this back man the magic i felt watchin each episode it really transported you into their world and made it such a unique feeling especially knowing each of them was a person in a suit not just some small puppets.

Looks like it was a fun show to work on, even if it could get pretty hot in those dinosaur costumes.

The series finale of the show is dark and depressing. If there's a reboot of the series, then the new premise will be setting in the present era where the Dinosaur family got thawed from the ice and wakes up in the new world. So they have to deal with fitting in the modern era and tries to accept the meaning of change. It might be crazy as it sounds but I hope they should keep the costumes.
