Dio - We Rock Reaction

In this video we're listening to Dio. We've checked out a few bands where Ronnie James Dio was lead singer, but we have yet to hear Ronnie's self named band, Dio. After some vigorous suggestion, we've decided to do just that. With Dio's voice alone, we're sure it will indeed rock. Let's check it out. Enjoy!

Dio was a brilliant singer/frontman.....good pick Col👏 ...saw him with Rainbow,Sabbath and on his solo tours....never ever a bad gig....great stuff😊

I first saw Dio in about 92. Their star was on the wane at that time mainly due to grunge but it was a fantastic show. I only went because, Col wanted to go but I thoroughly enjoyed the gig. Never before had I seen a vocalist who could so easily perform such vocal athletics . He was the best of the best.

Nice reaction! On this song the vocals of the mighty Ronnie James Dio were instrumental to the band. It definitely rocked, but didn't do fully justice to his legendary voice. Please check out next time "Don't Talk To Strangers' or 'Last in Line'. There the band is instrumental to Dio himself. Absolute gems!

One of my first concerts was Rainbow 🌈 with Dio on vocals opening for REO Speedwagon. The Long Live Rock & Roll Tour & REO were supporting their album cleverly titled You Can Tune A Piano But You Can't Tuna Fish. ✌️

Vinnie Appice was the drummer, who incidentally played with Sabbath and the later named band, Heaven and Hell.

The similarities with Ozzy, are that both bands had an ex-Rainbow bassist, in Bob Daisley and Jimmy Bain. Both singers were in Black Sabbath, and both singers wives were the managers, which ultimately was detrimental to the bands, because they ousted musicians from both bands who were integral to the sounds and creativity.

Detrimental to the bands, but good for their careers and their bank balances. The only reason we are talking about them now is because their management made sure we would be.

@delorangeade possibly true. Bob Daisley was ripped off by Sharon , and it was he who was solely responsible for lyrics and concepts. Viv Campbell was pushed out because he wanted a fair share, as did Jimmy and Vinny

I'm not in general a metal fan, but i think that Ronnie James Dio has the greatest voice in rock music. I would love to see you react to Rainbow, Temple of the king. That song sends me to a different plane.

This song is great especially live where you get to shout "We rock" as loud a you can and i have at the Dio gigs i have been to :-) Vinny Appice is the drummer who is a really great drummer, he joined Black sabbath when the original drummer left in the middle of the tour of the first album with Dio on vocals (Heaven and hell) and he had to learn the set in just a few days and he remained until Dio left to make music under his own name and he went along to start the band Dio. Vinny played on many of the Dio albums and in the early 90´s both were back in Black sabbath for a while and then back to Dio again and also later when Black sabbath with Dio reformed as Heaven and hell.

Very dated but good for it's time. 1983 to 1985 I probably listened to more of this style of music but sort of grew out of it after teenage years. I tended to listen more to Iron Maiden, Quiet Riot and Motorhead as a teenager than this but ultimately I just liked raw rock, heavy rock and fuck ruck than what most would describe as heavy metal. Think I have the Iron Maiden album Powerslave but not seen it for years so do not know where I put it.

Not a great song, but a great live song. I remember feeling the heat from the flamethrowers they had placed at the front of the stage, and I was about twenty rows back. Any song with "rock" or "rock and roll" in the title should be treated with caution. Dio's first two solo albums were very good, but things tailed off after that. For whatever reason, maybe financial, he didn't attract the quality of collaborators necessary to support his limited writing abilities.

Most likely because Wendy Dio was controlling the purse strings. I'm lead to believe that she was as ruthless as Sharon Osbourne. I've heard from many people that the musical geniuses were Jimmy Bain and Viv Campbell, and it was Ronnie who was great with lyrics and melodies, along with the sturdy drumming of Vinnie.

When I was young I thought Ronnie James Dio was some kind of God, but the older I got the more I disliked him. His lyrics got ridiculous, and he became the biggest clichè in rock. This song sums it up. I saw him live and he was equally unimpressive, with very little stage presence.
