Bishop, that was such a very wonderful and lucid presentation! You were able to shed light and greater clarity on how the seeds of the Gospel were sown 500 years ago, and how our ancestors embraced the faith and subsequently nurtured the seeds sown by the Spaniards. Your talk is a good antidote for those who have nothing but denigration and reproach on the colonizers, but like it or not, the Spaniards were the ones who shared their faith, their culture, their education, their heritage, their friendliness, their agriculture, etc. to our forebears. They had their own share of weaknesses and imperfections but they should not be rejected wholesale as a bunch of nasty, detestable and atrocious bastards. The late historian Pio Andrade had an objective and good research on the positive things that the Spaniards beqeathed to us. His article came out in Phil. Daily Inquirer 5 years ago. Thank you for that masterdul presentation of the splendor of truth about our ancient events and encounters.
