I have my 30” DD light bar for my center spot/driving, SS3 pro SAE wide fogs, and SS5 driving mounted on the ditch brackets canted at maybe 30° off the center. Definitely a good overall combo.

@@08pileggi How did you get the warmer color, is it something you can request? Lookin on the website and i dont see an option for 4k or 6k

@@slick1ton849 in order to do so you need to order their selective yellow, that will come with the warmer chips and then order your clear pattern of your liking

@@slick1ton849 No problem glad I could help!! I will say that I had bad luck with the bezel being soft and stripped two screws when I replaced the lens but they sent me a replacement bezel and screws with in a week of the claim so be careful on that

I also bought my lights from hotshotoffroad, just a suggestion from my side - get your self BajaDesigns S1 or S2 in wide cornering pattern. They have much more coverage horizontally compared to SSc1 or SSc2

Yes thinking back I should have but I went with the c1 pro to match the ss3 🤷🏽‍♂️ oh well. The ss3 and c1 are off working on some other pods now

Been looking for a Pro Spot review. I need something to throw light way down long straights as I drive alot of back roads and want to see all the deer at night. The Pros seem to be more than capable for that purpose.

Yes they do a good job for sure! They do a nice job of covering a two lane highway/road

Sweet light setup! Most of my DD lights are also selective yellow with a clear lens swap for the 4000k colour temperature. Did you ever debate trying the driving lens instead of the spot lens? Did you ever install the SSC1's aimed at the ditch?

Aaron I did actually do the driving lens and I just took them off today I just was not impressed with the combo or their driving beam. I think the pro chip is just to big to be anything other than a spot IMO. And yes I did do the ssc1! I need to get out and grab another video!

@@08pileggi Good to know! I'm guessing you didn't get a chance to video the driving lens hey? I sometimes debate switching my SS5 sports from spot lens to driving lens but I kind of think that I'll miss the extra distance of the spot. At a 15° spot pattern they honestly give me enough width I think and they actually waste a little bit of light too high up at distance vs the 10° spot I had with knock off vision x 4.7" cannons I had beforehand. I think it's just a "grass is always greener" situation. I'm guessing you missed the extra 345' of distance per pod at 1 lux (probably closer to 400' or 450' with a pair) when you switched from spot to driving? Did you go with the wide pattern lens on your SSC1? Thanks again for all these videos, they really do a good job showing off these lights for people trying to choose which lights to buy!

@@aaronolsen8787 no no driving or combo videos shoot I didn’t even do pictures like I normally do, the weren’t any further shining than my high beams( yes I know it’s a added highbeam pattern) but still thought it’d have better distance! The spots like you mentioned give me a larger enough spill to make it like a driving pattern where it gives me some width and plenty of distance. I would like to see a tighter beam out of the pro spots but I guess that’s where the sports and max come into play .. The ssc1 I have the wide pattern in amber but swapped over to the clear floods to match color wise. Unfortunately wide or spot is the only useable beam pattern when mounted to the side of the ss3 housing. It definitely helps light up the sides now! The weather has been nasty here lately so hopefully it clears up and I’ll add a part 2!

@@aaronolsen8787 I definitely thought about selling it all and going back to Baja designs to be honest, ya it’ll be more expensive but it’s either racer editions again in the xl configuration or maybe ss5 sports

In your opinion diode dynamics or Baja design? The cowl or kowl lights or ditch lights… ss3 or ss5 for diode dynamics or Baja designs? Which do you prefer?

Gosh that’s a hard decision! I know and love Baja designs products, the ease of swapping the lens with out having to remove the whole light is nice, the 5k color is perfect (imo) the units are smaller and the blending or output of BD is amazing (again imo) Diode does have really nice products. Their kelvin spectrum is ok to me. The 4K helps me when going from auxiliary lights to low beams and less eye fatigue to me. Their lens beam patterns idk just don’t do it for me. The combo and sae drive beam just seems like a blob of light but the spots are great! (Mainly my go to optic) Their pricing is definitely hard to beat when compared to BD. The racer edition and the ss3 pro are pretty on par with one another performance wise. See my comparison videos. The spill of the reflectors to me helps blend the light where as the tir is a definite beam. I’ve thought about selling this set up and venturing to the ss5 sport spot or even the xl racer from BD. Both companies have pros and cons. Both lights really are great, if I did it over again idk I’d almost go xl racers and call it a day to be honest. Ya the ss5 is cheaper and has more options (backlight coloring) and claim of higher candela numbers but just something about the BD lights that I’m fan of and love running their lights. Idk if this helped or made it worse on your decision making 😂

@@08pileggi thank you believe it or not this has helped me… I think I’m going to go BD. I like the beam pattern and spill over it broadcasts better (imo) yes the price is very inviting with DD. But we get what we pay for. Thank you for the content and reply! I greatly appreciate it!

After having the ss3, could you still recommend the lasfit pods? I don't mind the color or tight focus as I have led highs that have good width but I want a strong center punch so I almost feel like the tight beam may work well for me. I also want to spend less if the lasfit is good enough lol

So I never had any issues with the lasfit pods AT ALL, the only real down fall to me is the temperature color of the 6/6500k I would spend the money and go hp if you went lasfit. I recommend their pods and light bars to anyone who is looking for that application. Hell I’m about to buy a 30” of lasfit in the near future for my buggy. My buddy has their 50 and I have the 40 and it’s been great.Their entry level spot is good but the hp was noticeably brighter and better hot spot. If you go DD i personally think I would splurge for the sports or the max in selective yellow and change them to warm white. But that’s just me I like the warmer color lights

@@08pileggi yeah I want to get a set of the higher power lasfit pods and mount them where the tow hooks go, I have a newer expedition we use for long road trips and want some more distance, but don't want to go crazy yet. On the newer expeditions, the front tow hooks mount to the frame by bolting to the bottom on a flat surface, so you can just mount a pod upside down on the frame and it's perfectly recessed and everything
