The problem with unknown "recycled" cell is that you don't know what happened before. Often they were overdischarged, meaning they've build copper shunt inside the cell leading to internal short circuit and explosion. I discovered this, the hard way. Some of them also don't hold full charge for long and they definitely have much less capacity than before.

The liquid in the battery is the electrolyte. It is needed for the battery to work. It doesn't need to flow out like in the green battery, but the whole system must feel moist. The low performance of the yellow battery is most likely (partly?) due to loss of electrolyte. If you rapidly charge or discharge the battery, it gets hot, which increases the pressure in the cell, and some electrolyte might vent off through the safety pressure release in the positive contact. Also the seal can go bad over time, causing electrolyte to diffuse out even if there is no overpressure in the cell.

When I long press the mode button to activate the discharge, the meter prepares to show the energy value, but then it realizes that a long press of the button is what happened, and it goes back to voltage display. But En could also mean something like "discharge Enabled", so I left the program this way :).

So the reason why the 1800mAh one was so poor (1100mAh) was because it was specifically made/designed to be low capacity, there was not enough material inside to be of decent quality or capacity. The inside was hollow... And the reason why the 2400mAh battery performed so badly was because it was a recycled cell, probably from e-waste, where they take the battery pack, disassemble it for the 18650s, and then they just re-wrap it, shove new contacts on, and sell it to you. Under those circumstances it really is pot luck as to what capacity you will get (the previous UltraFire recycled cell was 1500mAh).

The rolls may be hand-rolled by poorly paid starving workers in China. Then it, of course, needs more electrolyte. The layers are not pressed together enough. There's also a lot of empty space, so the roll can loosen over time or because of the shipping vibrations.

Práve rozoberám baterky z HP notebookov a už mám vyše 100 článkov Samsung ICR 18650-28A. V praxi ich chcem nabíjať do 4,2 V a vybíjať do 3,0 V. To by mi mohlo dať kapacitu okolo 2300 mAh. Dúfam... Uvažujem spraviť si 10S10P battery pack pre bicykel. Maximálny trvalý odber by bol 7 A, takže 700 mAh na článok, čo zvládajú bez prehrievania (vyskúšané).

@erikziak12496 жыл бұрын
Ak uvidím že jeden z desiatich modulov stráca napätie rýchlejšie, môžem ho otvoriť a skontrolovať jednotlivé články, nájsť problémový a ten vymeniť. Celá batéria je bez zvárania alebo letovania, čo je super konštrukcia.

Maybe you should consider to repeat this test in some future. Maybe we find out even more and new things today. And they say, that lots of different prescious metalls are in this copperblend. Maybe it's as well possible to measure and calculate the specific weight. We know the surface, so we only have to measure the thickness as well properly. Maybe it would be of some interest anyway to know the thickness of all such samples, they may not all be the same?

The chemicals in a Li ion battery are quite harmless. The liquid is an organic solvent (about as dangerous as acetone and the thing that actually burns - the lithium is irrelevant for li ion battery fires). Dissolved in it are Li salts, can be acidic in certain circumstances, but is not really an issue. The only danger is fire, because it burns your house down. Also you can get HF in a fire, because one of the often used lithium salts also contains fluorine. So have plenty of water ready and you are fine.

A good 2400 mAh costs around $6-7 or 6-7€ + VAT, a good 3000+ one around 9-10€. If they are cheaper, they are trash.
@1pcfred6 жыл бұрын
@@hermannschaefer4777 you can consider high price also a primary reason why I do not get involved. Although $6 a cell isn't too bad. I need quite a few for what I want to do though so any reduction of individual cell prices would add up. Every pack I want needs 5 cells in it. Ultimately I would not mind having 5 or 6 packs. So 25 or 30 cells.

I like that the cat as soon as it heard that it heard that you wanted his/her help nonchalantly ambled out of the danger zone. Could we know your feline friend's name, please?

The moral of this video, is don't buy cheap bargain basement batteries, you'll pay for it twice due to their lack of power/defect, or worse yet they leak or puff up and burns your equipment. Also, only buy from well known reputable sellers. By the way, AliExpress, BangGood, etc are NOT sellers themselves (they are just online portals for sellers) so you must search for good seller on those websites, or better yet use Ebay or Amazon. ;D
