What a tremendous, timeless gem. I remember around 35 years ago traveling on a bus during peak hour one morning. The bus was packed full of commuters going about their daily business, then this song came on the radio. The bus driver cranked up the volume and suddenly the atmosphere on the bus changed. For a few brief minutes every single person on that bus forgot about what they were doing or thinking, and became lost in this sweet, euphonious masterpiece. The entire bus was silent and people began looking around at each other as though they all possessed a common understanding, and for a brief moment in time, we were all bonded together in blissful harmony. Then we got off the bus and went about our day, with what I like to imagine, a slightly different perspective of the world. A moment I'll never forget 💙

Had my good friend Ssgt Martinez save my life while we were conducting a raid on a home in Iraq. Thank you again Leonard Martinez. I now miss that bond and friendship MORE than ever. LOL. And I never thought I'd feel this way And as far as I'm concerned I'm glad I got the chance to say That I do believe, I love you And if I should ever go away Well, then close your eyes and try To feel the way we do today And then if you can remember Keep smiling, keep shining Knowing you can always count on me, for sure That's what friends are for For good times and bad times I'll be on your side forever more That's what friends are for Well, you came in loving me And now there's so much more I see And so by the way I thank you Oh and then for the times when we're apart Well, then close your eyes and know The words are coming from my heart And then if you can remember Keep smiling and keep shining Knowing you can always count on me, for sure That's what friends are for In good times and bad times I'll be on your side forever more That's what friends are for Keep smiling, keep shining Knowing you can always count on me, for sure That's what friends are for For good times and bad times I'll be on your side forever more That's what friends are for Keep smiling, keep shining Knowing you can always count on me, for sure Cause I tell you, that's what friends are for Whoa, good times and the bad times I'll be on your side forever more That's what friends are for 🖤💙

30 years later and this song still gives me chills and gets me choked up- especially towards the end when Gladys gives it her all. I really feel sorry for people that didn't grow up during the 70's and 80's when artists were truly artists and sang really meaningful songs. What happened to it all?

I wish I grew up then. Because now I'm stuck growing up in a generation filled with trash music. I listen to 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s music, and I really agree that it's much better than what singers crank out now. You both are very lucky to have lived through such a time where music was blossoming and blooming and when it would touch your heart and make you cry or make you feel proud for who you are, or whatever its goal was. From all the information I've gathered, music used to be much more creative, but now it's just kinda getting to be the same thing over and over again. Real talent used to present itself and show its face... but now it remains in the dark, hidden and alone.

@bTrLOL. Жыл бұрын
@@nickcaps5630 This is a prime example of somebody who spent most of their life inside and away from others as a child and didn't really know how to interact, upon discovering the loving and fun communities of social life and friend groups, they decide they want to be known by everyone as a cool person and have many friends that admire them and give them attention. However, because they spent a lot of their time on the internet and away from other people while not learning social rules and norms, they approach groups and people wrong by saying or doing something looked down upon and are told that what they did is wrong (most of the time in a good way but not always). Now this is where they hit a fork in the road, they either learn what they did was wrong and admit to it in order to become better and accepted by others therefore eventually forming into a person who connects with people positively and continues on to better things, or they lash out at the people who told them they were wrong because they were told no in a mean way or had parents who never declined them; So then they assume that the people who told them they did something wrong are the bad guys and their enemy.
