Both Raúl Juliá and the film were totally snubbed. Anyway Hollywood in the era where the U.S government was excitingly playing dirty game in Latin America must be so reluctant to give awards to an actor playing a religious figure that shook the U.S devilish greed in El Salvador

Surely many who know little or nothing about Romero will now watch the movie to learn a bit more. The movie is from 1989 - over a quarter of a century ago. And the archbishop was killed in 1980. So many young people do not know his story.

Raul Julia was a great actor who seemed to give it his all in whatever he did. His performances as Arch Bishop Romero, Mussolini's son-in-law, and Gomez Addams were all very good.

You could tell he was at death's door in that film. He was so thin. He gave it his all, but it was sadly obvious that his time was almost up.

Sadly in the early 1990s he was hitting his stride. There were a few clunkers in between yes, but if he was still alive, he might have been one of the biggest actors & every movie he would be in would be must-see in the late 1990s and beyond.

❤ He was recently made a Saint by Pope Francis.... oddly enough... Pope Paul the 6th was also made a Saint at the same time (together). Pope Paul 6th finished Vatican 2 and said...."THE SMOKE OF SATAN HAS ENTERED THE CHURCH THROUGH A CRACK." Meaning.... the Devil is now instituted in The Roman Catholic Church.
