Belinda Carlisle is one of the greatest artists ever. Her voice is angelic. "Heaven On Earth" album had 3 megahits - 'Heaven Is A Place On Earth', 'Circle In The Sand' and 'I Get Weak' but 'Nobody Owns Me' is my favorite Non-single track and I always believed that this song should have been released as a single. Very beautiful & touching masterpiece just like dear Belinda

It's actually quite controlled. She just has grit in her voice. It's actually quite frequently used by her, often on shorter notes. Mariah Carey can do something very similar when she feels like doing so.

I saw her live back in '90. I wanna say she kept this song in the rotation for that, but my memory could be playing tricks on me; it was 35 years ago after all! When I sang it in karaoke a decade ago, though, I went "No, not even you" instead of "Nobody but you", the way I thought the song should have gone. (Don't laugh, until recently I could still hit those high notes.)

SpiralFirst a big part is the fact on the album theirs overdubbed guitar parts and while this dude is a very good player he can not replicate the solo The legendary studio and world class guitarist Michael landau laid down in tone or feel . Also artists change arrangements live to keep things fresh 🎸😎
