We ALL need a little bit of Chanel, LV, and Dior fashion jewelry!!!! Lol They are affordable and do last. I’ve had several pieces I have had for 10 years so it was def worth the money! I’m adding MORE fine jewelry now with the thought in mind of passing pieces down.

Totally agree. I’ve also balanced it out. I have one pair of Dior earrings, a Dior brooch, the LV nano cuff and the leather Prada Saffiano bracelet with gold hardware ALL of which I wear everyday but take off every night. The rest of my jewelry is real, from diamonds to gold hoops. The combination of both work well for me.

I’m grateful that I was taught about and given fine jewelry at a young age which has helped in my perspective in making the investments in fine jewelry. Additionally, with sensitive skin, it has played a role in going fine over fashion. I also don’t like to take off my jewelry.

Great Video sis! I love the fashion jewelry to add that little bit extra to a look and though they are not real, most do hold their resell value like the Chanel pieces! Over the past year I have been investing in more fine jewelry for my everyday pieces that I never take off and I love that I don't have to worry about it.

Same! Honestly, sometimes the costume jewelry is a bit more original and I LOVE my CD Montaigne logo lol! I’m good with keeping a balance between the two but I definitely wouldn’t get into the rings since I wash my hands so much. I likely wouldn’t get the necklaces either because I wear my CD brooch every single day and I’d feel overdone wearing both a necklace AND a brooch and my brooch wins lol.

I started investing in fine jewelry in 2020 and actually I have bought fine jewelry for the same price as some fashion jewelry. The local jewelry store in my neighborhood and even pawn shops have really interesting pieces. 🙌🏾💗

I just don’t like fashion jewelry, mostly bc it’s monogrammed and I don’t need your name /logo all over my ish 🤷🏽‍♀️. Same for bags I’m more IYKYK when it comes to luxury. I agree just add a couple hundred more and get actual jewelry.

One thing to note, my LV earrings, studs shaped like a v, do not irritate my ears at all. I have an allergy to certain metals. Representative called Custer Srvc and they said they were brass with gold overlay. However, many with sensitive ears can not wear Chanel costume jewelry. Also, a vintage pair of Chanel earrings I had did not bother my ears as they were clip one and had a heavy gold coating. Sold them bc I couldn’t tolerate the pressure from the back clip. In general I think what matters most is the quality of the metals used/ amount of gold/craftsmanship. Overall, the $300 I spent at the time for the LV earrings is all that I think any costume piece is worth.

I did get my first piece of costume/fashion jewelry (the Louis LV earrings) but I'm fortunate to have some real jewelry from my parents and a passed down tennis bracelet. I'm planning to get into some fine jewelry from van cleef and tiffany's and cartier within the next few years with minimal costume jewelry purchases.

I agree with you concerning the value of fine jewelry. Strangely, I love statement pieces, so I find myself more interested in purchasing the fashion/costume jewelry. I have a couple Chanel pieces that I truly enjoy, but I try to stay away from anything with those dang crystals!

I’ve always been afraid to buy fashion bracelets and necklaces. I sweat a lot (no matter if it’s summer or winter) and always wear lotion on my wrists and body oil on my skin. I feel like I’d always need to be ashy to not make them tarnish 😂 Do they really tarnish that easily?

LOL! Honestly, I haven't noticed a great deal of fast tarnishing, even with wearing lotions and oils. I would say that it depends on the item you're purchasing though and where it's from.

Me and some friends had a whole discussion about wearing fake jewelry. At one point it got heated as we told one she’s anti-Black and brainwashed.One of my friends swears up and down that bamboo earrings with the name across the middle is ghetto.....Louis Vuitton has a fake pair with LV going across. She thinks that the LV pair are better than the actual 14K gold bamboos.

Louis Vuitton Fashion Jewelry is horrible quality for the price. I recently ordered a necklace and had to return it because it looked so cheap but it cost $800! Definitely not worth the price. Good advice!

All jewelry will tarnish or scratch and show signs of wear. I have real silver, gold and diamonds and pearls. I wouldn’t wear them in the shower ever. It will tarnish and that’s why it comes with a cleaning cloth and you will still have to take it in for cleaning and professional service from time to time. I buy fashion jewelry to wear daily because it’s not as precious. It’s for casual use IMO. My fine jewelry I’d rather save from wear, especially with my baby grabbing at me all the time. I guess I don’t care if my fashion jewelry wears because it’s not precious. 🤷🏽‍♀️
