Hi Tara! 🌸 I used to work with Dior products and a manager explained to me that the backstage collection it’s cheaper because it’s not as “premium” as the regular Dior line. So you can clearly see that reflected in it’s packaging.

I love the Backstage Universal Palette and i've ordered the Atelier Dore; I am waiting on that to arrive, but that said, I just wanted to reply to your price differential. .. the best I can come up with is the difference in packaging, first & foremost, and the second, the Atelier are sold as "limited edition" collector item. I would say that the higher end packaging. . . Very good to know that the formulas are the same. I think Dior is superior in quality to every other brand I've used though I have to say I'm a brand loyal person, not so much a beauty editor or blogger. Dior has my heart!

Both looks are beautiful on you Tara. I ordered the House of Dreams quint, the blush and the Dioriffic lipstick in the plum shade. I do have Golden Snow quint from last year so glad I didn't order the one from this year. However, I do have the Tutu quint too- but I love mauves, pinks, purples. Thanks for the review.

Both palettes look beautiful on you, Tara! I agree that they have a softer look, but it’s a very sophisticated, elegant look that’s wearable for the holidays and everyday. While I love both color stories, my eyes are drawn to the House of Dreams palette with that stunning silver shadow. I love the plummy tones with that icy silver to jazz up the eyes.

I consider these palettes to be investments. . . I would really like to know why the shelf life?? I get it with mascara! I totally get it. . .but a gorgeous palette collection that a person does not use on a daily basis is no good after 6 months??? Is this for real? I am not doing full makeup daily at this time due to covid. . . I have no intentions of throwing these out in six months and I'm the only one who uses my makeup. See, this is why your videos are so essential. I was set to buy the silver palette but I can see from this video that the gold one would suit me WAY better. As someone with limited eyeshadow skills I find the quints way easier to use than the backstage ones. I find those less blendable x

Hey Sweets, i believe what makes up for the price difference is Diors Luxury Line against Backstage which is more genetic and affordable. It happens with their highlighlers as well, their backstage highligter palettes are so pretty but because they are backstage (made for makeup artists) its more affordable than say the new Dior highligters (which the beige pretty packaging). Thats what i think.. i may be totally wrong 🤪💖 looking stunning !

My mum used to take me to selfridges as a little girl at Easter. We're about an hour away by train. Mum's favourite counter was Estee lauder. I think, looking back it was mum that ignighted my passion for quality makeup. Mum also had her hair done in London by the likes of Daniel galvin, Vidal Sasoon, themselves, sometimes treating me - we weren't rich but mum had her priorities 😉.. Didn't always look great tbh but hey ho. Enjoyed video.

Hey Tara! Today I received my Victoria Beckham beauty order. The CREAM BLUSH STICK OMG. I'm so glad u reviewed and I ordered. I also got the matte bronzer and lipliner..amazing. The blush lasted all day. My question is comparing the Dior quint in the brown shade, do u recommend the Victoria Beckham in Signature over the Dior? You get those neat little brushes/sponges with the quints. I have a ton of them and I actually use those little tools, that and the case adds on the extra bucks

I’ve bought Dior quints for years. They tend to have some similar color stories as they change out the names/formulas every year of their regular line. For instance, there’s usually a good neutral palette that has a different name and slightly different colors in every collection of their regular line. I’ve had some beautiful ones over the years, but I find that the regular line keeps changing so that you can never repurchase.

I absolutely love Selfridges, I’m in the Uk and I get next day timed delivery for £10 a year! So worth it! I like these palettes but they look very similar. For me I’d lean toward the purple one as I don’t have anything like it in my collection. I got the Dior palette last year, may dig it out again today after watching this video 🤣🤣 great review as always xx

I’ve used Dior eye shadows for years. I have the quints and the monos. I never tried the backstage. I didn’t know they exist until recently. Dior shadows are very long lasting and don’t irritate my eyes. I never had any fall out from them. They are of high quality. Their special editions can be a hit or miss, in terms of the shade or colors.

Hi Tara - I ordered both of these from Selfridges and mine came incredibly quickly as well - love that! I prefer the cool toned one - it’s a little more unique. The embossing is beautiful on these shadows as well, and they seem to be more pigmented than my other Dior quints. Overall I’m very happy with them, but I agree with you that they’re not “necessary” - I couldn’t pass them up though! 😂

I want the silver but a makeup artist once told me gold is my color. My husband says red is my color whenever I wear red clothing. I’m neutral/ warm but very fair. I think I should get the gold, but really want the silver. So undecided! I’ll probably get both or none. Beautiful looks on you. EDIT: Ok. Now I may get the backstage version. I was a color-coding consultant & while you can most definitely be warm, fair, & look good in gold jewelry, you can’t be neutral & warm or neutral & cool. Neutral by the very definition can’t be warm or cool; now as a neutral, you can lean warm or you could lean cool. Gold jewelry for warmth, silver for cool. I bet you, the red that your husband likes on you has an orange base to it & is NOT a blue-toned red, right? If you ever look at yourself in red & wonder how he could like you in that color, I bet you are choosing the wrong red for your skin tone. The silver was beautiful, but it will wash you out - stick to the gold or you’ll be wasting your money. I’ve noticed that makeup KZbinrs are always misusing the terms cool, warm, & neutrals. IDK why except for those pesky questions for choosing foundations based off of whether your veins look green or blue or both. Advertising executives are getting paid a small fortune to misdirect the consumer into buying the wrong shade of foundation with those pesky little tests thereby allowing a company more revenue! SMH!!! Using the correct colors in clothing, jewelry & makeup will take you to the next level. People will be asking what you have had done or if you’ve changed hairstyles or lost weight. Try wearing light soft colored (peaches, beiges, yellowy blue-greens, etc.) clothing, nothing too bold for a week. Seriously…….

I’m really happy I skipped these palettes. When I saw the promo photos, I just wasn’t excited. I ended up getting the blush and one of the lipsticks with the black case. I used an amazing silver shade the other day from the new Gucci eyeshadow palette! It was so gorgeous and it lasted all day. I am so obsessed with the Gucci palette, although pricey, it was so worth it for me🙂

I'm glad they didn't go with the wet/dry formula of their previous limited edition, but besides the embossing, it's not special. You are getting more than their standard eyeshadow, 7g is the standard. I just bought a lipstick with the design on the lipstick case. I wish brands would put the special designs on the packaging that houses the makeup rather than on the box or on the makeup. It makes me want to keep the package and use the makeup more.

Yep. I agree. 👏 The Tom Ford Wet Dry formula is GORGEOUS, but it's not in every Quad. The regular quads are just average or TRASH lol. These from Dior are beautiful ❤ And textures are easy and beautiful 💋

At first I thought that because the quints have a mirror, perhaps that could be the reason they cost more. However, as the nine pan palettes have more product - plus the packaging is less lux, I think they ought to be same price. The price difference doesn't make any sense to me. I have never noticed this price anomaly before and now I'm getting ticked off 😡. Honestly Tara, I would return both of these. It's obvious you can achieve these looks using your existing palettes, so why throw your money away. Return them sweetheart, you don't need them.
