Great and very on point, but there were some less known models who were also Galliano muses such as Eva Jay Kubatova, Irina Bondarenko, Liya Kebede, Oluchi Onweagba, Hedvig Marie Maigre, Nicola Breytenbach, Tatyana Usova, Madelaine Hjört, Diana Gaertner, Tiiu Kuik, Anastassia Khozissova, Dewi Driegen or Elena Rosenkova, who were definitely more regular than Carmen or Colette on Galliano shows.

Irina, Oluchi, Hedvig, Dewi, Nicola, and Elena were obviously among his favorites. Especially Eva, I mean, he had her open 2 shows under his time at Dior

A little bit disappointed that Kate wasn’t here tho, she wasn’t walking for Dior that much but had a lot of campaigns and she walked for Galliano from her very early day. Not to mention the wedding dress John made for Kate all by himself. I also wish Ling Tan was here, she closed two Dior shows
@Ojitoverde3 жыл бұрын
Kate was a Galliano's muse, YES, but never got to be significant in any kind for House of Dior, I guess if John would've taken the house in the very early 90s she would defitnely be one as well as other 90s models, but since he took it very late 90s Jhon focused more in the new wave of girls(Colette, Gisele, Carmen), the only 90s models that really survived for Dior were Shalom, Linda, Naomi, Eva and Stella of course. And Ling Tan was in considerations tho but I found her time for Dior to be little bit short and no the most significant, but yeah Agree, she could've been there.

@@Ojitoverde If to associate Kate work with a brand she was THE McQueen girl in the late 90s early 2000s tbh.
@rodval23223 жыл бұрын
@@Vicente_Vasquez mmmh…are you sure? Late 90’s/early 2000’s Kate was a Tom Ford girl and she was more focused on her party girl image than being a model, Shalom Harlow, Honor Fraser, Debra Shaw…those are the names that come to my mind when I think of McQueen muses, Kate was everybody’s girl and nobody’s girl at the same time, she could walk a few shows and do two or three campaigns, but wasn’t a regular for any designer.
@Vicente_Vasquez3 жыл бұрын
@@rodval2322 I mean she got the Hologram in FW 2006 and in SS after her coke scandal Lee himself appeared in the show with a “We love you Kate” T-shirt. So there’s no denying that she was close with McQueen. Apart from being in several shoes of the brand, including opening SS 2001.

Ah...good old days. When there was liberty in fashion. When you could do advertising with people riding each other without being accused of sexism and rape istigation...When cultural appropriation wasn't the word to describe creative references used to make fun clothes. And it is still fun and spicy even almost 20 years away. Unlike a lot of things done since.
@mattbonanza90323 жыл бұрын
@M Koric What you mean by nobody was allowed to speak about anything? Maybe there were less discussions of certain type but not because they were not allowed. It was because it was pre social media era ( also pre smartphone era ) and it was a bit harder for everyone to spill out their message for everyone to see. You had to really want to say something in order to try enough to get it maybe on the news or newspaper. But it is not like it wasn't allowed. Even today mainstream fashion media are very cautious of not stepping on big players toes so that didn't change.
@mattbonanza90323 жыл бұрын
@M Koric as for "culture but not the struggle" part...If some desgner wants to make fun and cheeky collection inspired by some culture...why does he need to include struggle? Nowadays people fake to care but pretend they do because politically correct. I prefer honesty. And freedom of creativity.
@mattbonanza90323 жыл бұрын
@M Koric ...sex sells...well, the history of clothing is tightly related to sex because one of it's core functions is to cover our genitals and present our bodies in a certain way. Even religious clothing is about sex because designed to cover up everything sexy on human body and "even things out so that nothing sticks out"....so...clothing essentialy is very about sex, among other things.
@mattbonanza90323 жыл бұрын
@M Koric In general or in fashion industry? But...in a certain way I would agree that sex favours were seen as a part of job. You want job, there are million pretty girls/guys, so if you really want it you know what to do. I am not making this assumption because I know ( I was not myself in those places to know ) but I kind of feel it could have been like that. I don't think it is different even now. Just wrapped in different packaging and unwrapped when someone needs to be "cancelled" because he/she stepped on someone's toes.

@M Koric Why? It is a hairstyle like any other. What about appropriating from western cultures then? Should we accuse people of non white races of wearing suits and demand that they only wear their traditional whatever? Or "European" hairstyles or make up styles? I think every person and culture deserves respect. But that respect is matter of political education and of civil education, not of art or artistic crafts.

The glorious and way over the top but we didn't care mind of John Galliano, the sad part for a lot of these designers from years past they would never have had their collections shown due to the woke idiots and cultural appropriation squad. There is not one thing that is around today yesterday and tomorrow that was not invented and used some where else in a different time, it is evolution and that evolution will come back not tomorrow or not next year but it will make a return but with a little extra added that is evolution we build on the rocks and bricks of the trail blazers before so we ignite a passion on the future inventers or designers. Fashion is art and art is in the eye of the beholder.
