Dior moves to Mexico City for the 2024 Cruise collection. Maria Grazia Chiuri chose to walk the runway at the Colegio de San Ildefonso, where Frida Kahlo met Diego Rivera. A magnificent place full of history.
Backstage, the models are overexcited, singing and dancing.
Many of them walk in their home countries, something that really moves Fernanda Alvarez. Enya Davis spies on the guests settling in. Naomi Watts, Léna Mahfouf, Jihoon Kim, Alicia Keys.
The show begins. Celic Dorig opens. Butterflies are everywhere in the collection: on jewelry, on bags, on shirts, in the models' hair. The butterfly is an important animal in Mexico, symbolizing renewal, metamorphosis and rebirth. The Dior signature bar suit is covered in traditional embroidery by Mexican artisans from the Yolcentle workshop. The show closes with a tableau as striking as it is political: a swarm of models stands in the courtyard of the Colegio. They wear white dresses whose red embroidery evokes violence against women, especially Mexican women. Dior and Maria Grazia Chiuri gave artist Elina Chauvet carte blanche to embroider these dresses, which are still in the canvas state.
After the show, Alicia Keys danced in the rain. She loved the show and wants to wear all the pieces.

Lovely! Coherent! It made me think of the teepee show which might have been Ms. Grazia Chiuri's first Dior. The first dress was worth the whole video. The suits were great. The mariachi details on otherwise non-mariachi clothes was enlightening. Even more-so were the references to the ballet folklorico dresses - especially taking something that normally is extremely/overly colorful and presenting it in black, the one color it never is. ¡Todos estas muy hermosa! I guess this video is one of your best works, just because of level of journalism. You jumped so deep into fashion, this vid is tells you why fashion is an art. Why we need fashion. Why we need beauty. And I really got big amount of new information. And why this vid is also so great - you can clearly see how people do their art to be heard. But the guests are mainly invited for attention in the internet, to give more promo and get more money, which is obvious cause it’s a business also. But finally you think "damn I hate capitalism" which is far from my basic opinion. So, this was very influential… thanks for the experience Loic Prigent
