I have a 2009 (silver collar) and a 2014. My 2009 silver collar (same formulation as the 2007) is a 100ml. Both the vintage and reformulations are superb, in my opinion. DHI is one of those fragrances where you don't need to hunt down a vintage bottle.

Loving your videos. Same here...I always loved DHI...until I finally tried the 2005 edt by Polge. The EDT was a such a fully realised concept and after that I could only read the Intense as 'gilding the lilly'. It's insane the EDT is the only one to no longer survive. The hype around the Parfum is ridiculous at this point.

I have the modern Kouros, and have not owned the vintage Kouros, so I don’t know just how beastly it is.. I would say it’s faithful to Kouros, you know Kouros and would recognize it as Kouros but lighter, real Man stuff for the summer..

Great comparison Rich. I own the 2011 version. Interestingly I’m sure I read somewhere that the intensity of the Iris changes significantly once air is introduced into the bottle. But for the life of me can’t remember whether it gets stronger or weaker or vice versa. All I know is that my bottle still smells f£@king amazing! Masterpiece! 👍

In my opinion, the unspoken reality is that Dior Homme EDT is the best of the bunch. Typically it's the Parfum that gets the most talk, but it's just so dense and buttery that it's unwearable unless you're outdoors in the dead of winter. The EDT is the most nuanced and feels like the most complete, finished and multifaceted of the bunch.

Before I saw the video: In my opinion the 2007 and 2011 versions are 90% the same. I noticed the biggest difference after the reformulation in 2016, as from then on the scent is much more transparent and less cuddly vanilla. For me, the 2007 version has a slightly stronger vanilla, a slightly more present cocoa and a vetiver note in the drydown, which I don't notice in the 2011 version.

@RichMitch After watching the video I think I know what you mean when you say the 2007 version is less "intense" than the 2011 version. The 2007 version is so absolutely smooth and rounded from the opening to the drydown that it seems to be less potent (in reality it is very strong in projection and lasts a very long time). It has a really niche character in this respect because I have rarely smelled this smoothness in a designer. The 2011 has more of that designer "kick" in the opening, possibly some aroma chemicals used in other designers. This makes it seem more “intense” at first.

I prefer both the old DHI2007 and the old DH2005, not least because they are more different in character than their newer formulations. The new Dior Homme really just seems to be a less strong and sweet version of the new DHI, while the old DH2005 comes across as more classically masculine than the DH2007 due to the leather, the amber dryness and perhaps the sage.

@@RichMitch I just finished the video. What you describe in the difference between 2007 and 2011 formula DHI is similar to what I get from silver stem Dior Homme and later (2011 formula) Dior Homme. The later version of that is thicker, sweeter and more in-line with where male frags were moving, at the time. TBF I like all of them I've ever smelled, outside of the 2020+ bottles that seem to have upped the iso-e super a lot.
