LOUIS VUITTON WHO ??? This gave me a KRIS VAN ASCHE feel and I love it ! The simplicity of this collection is semi what we expect from DIOR. Classics elements that speak to the codes of the house yet infused with minimal detail that still add that hint of KIM that we have all come to love. Yes, previous LV collections from KIM had a bit more pizzazz if you will but for a debut ! I know some people are calling it safe ! But...if you wow everyone now....you won’t be able to outdo yourself later ! This was 10 stars compared to Virgil’s all over the place Collection. I though this was beautiful. And can easily be pared with a few of the LV bags to add that balance of both brands ! Well done KIM.

This collection isn't really interesting. Kim is a great designer. He did interesting stuff for his own label back in the early 2000's as well as for Dunhill. His tenure at LV is memorable and most collections he did were on point. I was impatient to see his take on Dior but at the same time, the challenge is great with this brand. The clothes are way much better then what Kriss Van Ashe was presenting for years. I'm even surprised he stayed that long on on that seat. The question to raised now is: can Dior Homme be anything else than Slimane archetypes that grew up and that is seen by the eyes of other designers ? This collection looks like Dior's customer dressed in a softer Hermes. I think this niche is very saturated.

Shawn803088, the sellable vs the avant-garde debate is not new, as you might know it. The Avant garde category might be too ''niche'' and have too few customers to be reliable but the ''reality based'' clothing might get in a problematic position too since what they propose can be copy easily and will end up creating saturation in the market due to the amount of brands already involved in wearable clothes production on one hand and lack of originality on the other.

It is not that different from Kriss wonjoon cha. It is more sophisticated indeed but different i dont think so, personally. Its true that this perception I have might come from the fact that this is also a transition collection and he had very little time to design it. Dior men products division never had a real identity. The 70' and 80' Monsieur line was mostly just shirts and ties. At LV, there was a DNA of travel and luggage thing he could built on that the men department at Dior dont have ( it is after all a brand of women'wear). I'm still a believer in Jones work anyways.

I dont consider, personnaly, Ralph Lauren to be fashion in the first place. I recommend you an excellent article Written by Robyn Givhan About Lauren's work that says it all.. disconnected, cliché American ivy league... it dosent matter if u sale a lot, it matters who buy's the clothes too ( I wont mention how popular a certain clown that sell hamburger is and how much money they make.. is it good because it sells ?) .. As for Tom Ford, he never reached the level of popularity he had during his Gucci years.. who in they're 30's,with buying power and wish to have an aesthetic experience buy's Ford ? no one.. they get Balenciaga... You buy Ford if you read GQ, work as a lawyer and hope to get laid. ... As for Lagerfeld, there is something called a ''success d'estime'' that might be interesting to consider.. Ive been buying clothes as much longer as you Shawn80388. I do understand the frustration of buying stuff without being able to wear them after 2 weeks. Never the less, The world dont need another sand suede jacket... So this debate is very old and legitimate.. Its not gonna end because they are lots of different needs image wise... I think space there is for a lot in the market and i rather, and that my own view, get a Marni jacket that's difficult to pull of then a trench just because its a sure value... I'm a tailor, i know how well made clothes are fondamental.. but at the end of the day a well made black suit is a well made black suit... a Balenciaga neoprene top from f/w 2010 as no equivalent designwize...
