The Dior Spring-Summer 2021 Show

Discover the Dior Spring-Summer 2021 collection by Maria Grazia Chiuri, unveiled in an atmospheric show space featuring a previously unrealized work by Italian visual artist Lucia Marcucci, ‘Vetrata di poesia visiva’, a collage of illuminated imagery and text in the manner of stained glass windows. The show was scored with a performance of ‘Sangu di Rosa’, a choral work by Lucia Ronchetti sung by Sequenza 9.3. The use of Indonesian ikat-weave fabrics, known as Endek, represents a unique expression of ancestral savoir-faire. Dior is committed to working hand-in-hand with local experts and artisans to safeguard this cultural asset and ensure that its precious techniques live on.

Some of the dresses are made with the traditional hand wovem fabric from the island od Bali, it is called Endek ikat, there are 2 pattens of these Endek Ikat used and those are traditional patterns which have special meanings, hopefully House of Dior give credit of those fabric materials.

Am I the only one here that thinks the singing was beautiful? Sure, it's definitely jarring at parts, but there's also this beautiful, clear melody interwoven. It fits so well with the lighting and the cathedral-esque faux-stained glass windows, and the vocal control is amazing. And it was all live!

I will watch it again, but I loved the simple lines, beautiful fabrics. The collection looked both completely comfortable and beautiful except the poncho which is not my thing and a throwback to the ugly part of 70s fashion. No only was the collection magnificent but so was the show, the simple collage of images making up the stain glass, and the singers. Sure the modern avant garde discordant singing my thing, but they were perfect. When there were places of harmony, it was beautiful. I think it must have been difficult trying to sing spaced so far from each other. Singing is probably the least covid safe activity. Now there is a 30 minute test with saliva, so in theory everyone could be tested before attending. Let's hope countries have access to these developments, or continue to have the shows outside where 20 percent lower transmission. We had a protest for BLM in Melbourne and very few contracted covid because they all wore masks and were outside. My point is, keep safe. What a wonderful effort Dior you have done it again. Thank you so much for creating beauty and giving us so much to enjoy in lockdown. I have very fond memories of NGV Dior exhibition retrospective. I devoured every detail, I could have gone back every day. Mwah mwah 👏👏👏❤😘🌹🕊🕊🕊🏵🐝🐨

‘Sangu di Rosa’, a choral work by Lucia Ronchetti sung by Sequenza 9.3 is a totally wired out of space and time piece of art. I knew I wasn't gonna like the show, but the music took me to Poltergeist! A greater weirder comfortable place that I am very grateful for. Just synchronized tones and vague but very vague lyrics keep it going. Yes it's beautifully creepy which makes it remarkable. Best thing in a Dior show since Raf left.
