One of my friends told me this band is Future Pop. I was like "What the fuck?" This is and always has been darkwave/dark electro from 20 years ago to now. "Gasoline" would be the punch, but this is another darkwave masterclass of an album.

lol diorama is synthpop dark electro is a quasi-genre invented by music journos to describe wave of cheap (mostly) german acts who has copied sound of :wumpscut: or even project pitchfork (in its hardest - and finest - times). the most vivid example of this abomination on good post-industrial electronic music is the band called 'agonoize'. or sweden band 'combichrist' - no matter what abbreviation andy laplegua calls himself and what about darkwave... belgian band 'clan of xymox' was and is the purest darkwave from 80s, and turkish band 'she past away' is the most modern example of this genre. diorama hasn't no common with this scene. they're just like depeche mode but with some goth-rock and ebm influences. and yes, your friend was much more closer to the truth

@@artyomkolesov1113 Clan of Xymox is a Dutch band, not a Belgian one. And actually Diary of Dreams has been a long influence on Diorama, not Depeche Mode nor synth-pop acts. I know all of their discography and it's never been electro-industrial or aggrotech or synth-pop. It's just more electronic darkwave but it still is darkwave.

@@letztekrankheit well ok, you got me about CoX. there is no suprise in confusing dutch with belgian when you live in russia and has all this shitty propaganda about "one great russian nation divided" and "there is no ukranians but westernized russians" and "lets kill ukranians the're all fascists and because of this we will destroy the whole city of mariupol". dutches-flemish situation, but with the barbarism from so-called "russians". СЛАВА УКРАIНI yes, i know about DoD influence. but i think it was limited to the first - and latest in my own top - album of diorama. because what can adrian hates advice not to diorama but the world of music in whole? plain boring 4th or 5th wave of gothic-rock? yeah maybe. he is very limited, like all the impersonators of andrew eldritch and there is no thing like "electronic dark wave". songs like 'a day' or 'stranger' are very 'electronic' itself. its the main difference between this genre and goth-rock

@@artyomkolesov1113 music even in the gothic genres is evolving. What's your point about stating someone is impersonating Eldritch when there's no comparison to Sisters of Mercy's gothic rock music? Btw, there are also some good goth rock/darkwave Russian bands and at least one Ukrainian I know of. As long as all those agree (of course I guess) that they don't agree with Putin, let's put the politics aside and not put all the eggs in the same basket in terms of music.
