The cork road seam can be hidden with irregular application of tube glue then painted dark grey or black to represent tar sealer over seams and cracks. Add a small feeder crack to the stress point of the driveway and it will look deliberate and realistic.

woozleboy...add a feeder crack to the joint (stress crack joint)...YEA, right buddy, I'm an old concrete man and THAT is exactly what happens when the "Earth Moves Under your Feet"!! I have (Naturally), one of the few construction diorama videos on youtube...LOL. I do have one I'd like you to look at, the grass and trees need work,,,but the construction section is... you tell me!

So I know Milliput can be thinned down to either a consistency like model putty or even further to a thick liquid that can be used for stippling on textures, maybe a combination of the putty consistency for the road joint followed by an all over coat of some thinned down enough to seep into the cork could have hid the join, might be worth messing about with on a test piece. I really love how your sidewalk came out, seeing that in the thumbnail is why I decided to watch this video.

Holy shit. I saw the finished product of this on an Instagram page of initial D memes and it inspired me to make my own model scenes in the future, I started watching KZbin tutorials and this came up on my suggested videos feed later, I didn’t even search for this. Awesome work by the way! Thank you for making a tutorial.

Nice work mate, but if you are working often with plaster of paris, you really should wear gloves and mask while mixing or sanding it down. Even spreading it out with your fingers is not the best solution 😂 Like with any material if you work a lot with them you should protect yourself, your skin breathes it too 😊

Have you ever tried: AK, TERRAINS ASPHALT, 250 ml., DIORAMA series, #AK8013. It makes great looking Asphalt road surfaces!
@FullMoonVideo
@FullMoonVideo 5 жыл бұрын
I think that's great...and the match line between the asphalt road and concrete drive way is great, realistic. From someone who actually paved such roads, we don't usually take time to make sure that seam is perfect, especially on resurface...it will wave a little. Love your finished concrete look, but a couple of small line cracks leading into the stress crack joint would really be detailed, and make them dark, filled with dust and dirt.

You can use the same glue as you used for the road to hide the split between both cork parts. Just rub it between both parts while gluing them to the ground surface, then use the extra glue that may pop out on top to rub that in the split. Any extra left overs can be wiped off. This should help to solve that problem. It however may be the best to use 1 part of cork instead of 2 though.
@ImBeingCreative
@ImBeingCreative 5 жыл бұрын
Yeah definitely man, I found I can get massive rolls of cork locally so I won't have this problem again. Someone else also suggested to use superglue and paint it like a road repair line which was another idea I liked

Feb. 2018---Thanks for a useful video. After 15 years, started getting back into modeling, but going for 1/35th scale zombie/ apocalypse dioramas. One of the 3 I'm working on will be called The Alley much like yours, though where you have concrete for the alley, I'm going for cork as asphalt. But thanks to you, have figured out how to put a sidewalk in front of the building and of course, having a dip between the alley way and road. For those wanting a large sheet of cork, hit you car parts store. Think my 3'x2' sheet of cork cost me $13?

If someone was going for a kinda battle scarred look for their build they could probably skip the cork right? I'm thinking cut it with a hobby knife, sand it lightly but still leave plenty of texture, then prime and paint over the rough surface, maybe?

Your over working this project.... you should have black washed the whole piece of foam before you started painting it... the black wash will get into every crack and make it look aged ....I simply water down my black paint... slap it on... let it sit for just a sec then wipe off with a towel... again make sure it’s in every crack.... then do your grays and dark grays ... also if you want texture for the road... instead of cork.... go outside and find a few textured rocks... the foam is very soft and it will take shapes of different items.. push rocks down on the foam for your road and it will give a cool texture... I also use different stones for my bricks before I cut them out to give texture...when you dry brush you will see the textures pop like nothing you seen before...
