Love to see Diplomacy videos on YT. Unfortunately, the Conspiracy app made a strange choice when deciding that arrows will be arched instead of straight and it is incredibly difficult to follow what is actually happening. Extremely messy and there are no good reasons for making those arrows as they are.

When he says this game took 16 years, he actually means in real time. Diplomacy is a hell of a drug.

I'm just getting into playing diplomacy and watching some of your playthroughs has been helpful for formulating strategy. Thank you.

An interesting game indeed. Losing the North Sea there and then, having Russia in there contesting it was what forced you into a draw. Being split up like that, with your forces split up on two fronts and essentially no centres being fully secure (unlike, say, the Turkish centres, Sevastopol, Moscow had they secured Livonia), your offensive capacities are stretched. You probably could've held for a while, but expanding without trade-offs seemed near-impossible. Your analysis on R fleet in Wales being a pain in the arse is correct, a small investment for the Russian player which gave him his place at the table in the end.

I did have NTH after I took mos though, and Russia failed to capitalize much on originally taking NTH. 🤔 Lots of good guessing needed... thx for your analysis!

@@MonsieurJack95 Fair enough, you could've effected something similiar to the fleet in Wales with that army (similiarly precarious but also distracting) - still, it would've be a matter of time until the Turkish fleets would've arrived, combined with the Russian navy (after snagging Portugal but prolly not Spain), and caused a lot of havoc. We can't know how it would've gone, but, as the initiative to continue fighting would've been yours, it seemed unlikely that the North Sea (general region, not the province) would've remained that way. No need to thank me - thanks for posting this (it's been a while since I've seen the board), and thanks for the amazing music!

Thank you for explaining your interesting game. This game models perfectly how beginners or weaker players lose time. Austria played really bad (when he was not under guidance) and Italy was just an average player. So a Juggernaut (RT-alliance) that according to Turkey existed from the first move should easily come through. But it didn`t happen because they lost so much steam in their movements. The main reason is a common misconseption. Russia took Rum with a fleet. A lot of beginners believe that this friendly to Turkey but in fact it just makes Austria defense easier. So when I play a Juggernaut I would always want that Russia takes Rum with an army. The attack of Russia on Germany was also weird. Going for it and then moving out for no reason. This movement back is the only reason why Germanys position at the end is so good (plus the sneaky convoy to Lvn which I would have definitly covered to avoid the damage but I guess Russia was surprised of this possibility) The end position I would rate as dynamically equal. Both sides have to play accurately (RT vs G) but if that happens there should be not much chance of Germany winning rather Turkey has chances on the long-run.

I would've gone for the solo. I think you could've held the stalemate line like you said.
