Hey, heres a little tip for fighting off predator attacks at dens and rendezvous sites! Usually what I do, is I woof the pups inside the grass either once or twice. After they are inside, I will usually jolt myself at the predator and bite persistently so that way the predator is more focused on fighting me and not getting to the pups. If your dealing with things like coyotes, wolves, or dogs; woof the pups inside the grass once and just bolt at the coyotes and/or wolves/dogs. Even if there are a few pups out of the grass, their focus will be on you and your mate if you bolt at them and bite them so that gives your pups time to get to safety. If you're dealing with things like bears, they are usually slow enough so you can woof the pups maybe twice or three times before you have to deal with fhe grizzly. I suggest biting the bears and circling them, that will get them focused on you instead of the pups. Also, when a bear tries to hit you, quickly go behind it and bite the bear. When it tries to swipe you or your mate, it kind of gives you an easy opportunity to get some quick bites taking minimal damage. It will take some time, but it usually works! If you're dealing with things like cougars, woof the pups inside as how many times you want. Cougars don't just run up to your pups immediately, they'll stalk your pups first before making a target. If the pups have gone inside safely and the cougar hasn't shown up yet, then go around the den or area and find the cougar. Cougars are very easy to intimidate by growling and biting. If the cougar has shown up then keep biting the cougar and growling. With eagles you just have to woof the pups inside and if there are some pups out, stay near them and woof. Or pick them up and try and get them inside the den. If there are no pups out in the open, you want to follow the eagle, it scares the eagle since your following it so it can't get an easy meal that way. Hope this helps!

From what I've played: you can, but it does put your pups at real risk when they first start following you. Just now I was playing pretty thoughtlessly during the young hunters mission, started fighting a bear, as you do. Only once we chased it off did I notice that most of my pups were nearly dead. It turned out fine in the end, and I probably could have played better in hindsight, but it at least made me reevaluate what could be considered "reasonable risk" with pups in tow. So, you can get away with an amount of recklessness, but you should try to manage your pups a bit if you want them to have a decent shot at surviving. My advice is to either watch their health like a hawk and be ready to tell them to back off, or make peace with the fact that you may lose more than one along the way.

@@JayPlays535 Yessss, this is why I love AND hate the game. For me, I cannot put my attention to it when im marking territory or just hunting. I feel bored, and I don't want to call a game bad when it has got me through a bad childhood. But then you have actual risks to things I would have an attachment to. - I remember, one playthrough, I was goofing off, placing my pup in places far away from the den. But then, there was a den attack, which killed my mate, and I knew I could not go back to save my pups. There were too many. So, I grabbed the one pup, ran off, and had to survive without a den and no mate. I couldnt leave my pup anywhere, because they are programmed to try and run back to the den once away from it. It took me ALOT, but I managed to make it to the ending.

I struggled with broken legs my first time through yesterday too oh my gosh. My wolf had a broken leg from the end of summer all the way into nearly the end of winter and I cannot express how awful it is to have three broken legs in a row

Ah so let me share my wolf story. I started out with 3 pups. Im now down to one. I wish id known to lead the predators away from the grass, because then the coyotes wouldn’t have taken one, and Crevice Lake wouldn’t have taken the other. This new quest has me soiling my pants constantly because i have no clue what to expect 😂 i do hope my remaining pup learns to hunt small animals soon😭

Oh boy yeah, the learning curve is rough! Leading the predators away is a two edged sword because it helps if they all follow you, but you do have to watch that none circle back. Much easier with solo predators like coyotes or cougars! Here's hoping the best for your pup!

I tried out the new beta and i got 4 pups to young hunters and by the end, they were all dead 😭 im a seasoned player so i was honestly shocked. I guess i need to lock in, saga quests arent playing around

Moose are terriblely slow at turning. If you can get that baby at a angle where she has to turn you can get a lot of bites in without getting kicked. If you feel dangerous you can bite her once. Pray you don't get kicked real hard in th face, and chase her away from the calf.

But I like the way you are doing the names where they earn their names later because man it is painful when you name a pup a really cool name and become attached just for them to die from an attack or illness. I also think it is cool you can turn the illness death off.

The first year during the summer, I had to survive by eating rabbit, as I had 2 leg injuries and no sleep (plus no ability to sleep, bc everyone was hungry). I had to ignore hex invasions till I had both my injuries and sleep back. Large mule deer fawn were also enough to feed my mate & I to 125%, and catchable with no sleep if I drank water & pack rallied (I also had/have -1 in stam and speed). As long as I was able to latch onto the fawn my mate would take over after me while I got stam. Mother & fawn could be stalled long enough to get her kid down after it was latched onto the first time. The first year was rough. Following litters were so easy that it's almost easy to forget about, but, that trauma is gonna stick around a bit I think

Dude, I got to growing pups and it’s going disastrously for me, I have a pup that’s basically dead (3% health) because she got too hungry and I’m too injured to hunt because I got beaten up by the whole forest trying to take my pups and territory. I can’t catch the hares fast enough anymore, everytime I give them 1, their hunger goes down by like 10%. I’m not sure how far I’ve gotten into the quest though, I haven’t checked for a while lol. This is the second time my favourite pup from the same wolf has died 😭 I swear that the bigger they get the more food they need (mine are 36 pounds rn and need to eat an entire forest that I currently can’t provide on like 20% health) Also, the music sounds so happy in the game, meanwhile I’m just freaking out like “WHY IS THE MUSIC SO HAPPY, THIS IS NOT HAPPY TIME” 😂 I wish mine were hunting the many voles I’ve seen in the rendezvous site, I saw like 4 chilling around the area and they had no interest in hunting them 😅

@JayPlays535 I'm doing Accurate ironwolf on the Saga first (with mate and pup death on) and it is DIFFICULT, but also so much fun. Hunting is more challenging too, I consider myself to be a good WQ player but even hunting elk almost killed me 😅 i just got pups so things haven't gone insane yet

It was! I forget when the plane was added but there's a research plane that occasionally checks up on collared wolves (and Raven has a collar). Not new to the saga but we haven't played with any of our collared wolves for a bit.

Girlie, PLEASE for the love of God use your 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 keys for calls/interactions, they can be set up in your emote wheel in favorite tab. it't painful to watch how you get lost in there for 15 seconds while ur pups getting raid

She stated a long time ago in an older video that she knows, she just prefers that way. I do that too, but i have my favourites and my Woof is 1 and Squeak is 2. Next thing we need to spam and gang up on her to tell her though is to NOT bite bears like classic, it lowers your health unless you really know what your doing. Sorry if i come off rude.. 😅

Number keys are wayyyy less intuitive for me because there's no visual reference for what does what! The wheel may seem slow for me but I assure you it is faster than trying to fumble to remember number keys 😅 Personal preference and old habits die hard.
